We have a trip May 9-17. Current use year (dec) and borrowed points. I was told borrowed points will be returned to next year.

We have a trip planned in Nov. Several days at BLT using borrowed points. I was waiting until 7 months to try to use SSR points at a different resort... First thought was after cancelling May trip using the current year points to finish booking Nov trip. Now I'm a little worried if for some reason Disney needs to close again , I would lose those points since I passed any banking window. Should I just use borrowed points?

I would book now with the current UY points and wait it out until July.

We will know by then what is going on, All signs point to a June 1st opening, but at least by then, if it doesnt happen, have a better idea of what will happen in November. You can then always cancel and bank then

Thank you.

I was a bit concerned of some saying second wave of virus. So Disney would open for say 4 or 5 months.....

Thank you.

If, you have concerns in July, you could always, borrow points for a dummy reservation, cancel it, and then modify it with no changes, to free up current points.

Thank you.

I agree that you should take advantages now of the ability to return those borrowed points in the May reservation to next use year and use current points for Nov, and then revisit for a decision on that reservation in late July. You should not assume at all in making the decision that the existing temporary rule, which is allowing borrowed points in a cancelled reservation to be returned to their original use year, will be in effect if there are coronavirus related cancellations in November.
