Point usage, borrowed vs. Banked

Got two questions bugging me for a long time, but didn't really see any clear answers. Pardon me if they were discussed before...

1) If in my account, I have both banked and borrowed points, which points will be used first?
2) Say I have a vacation booked for December 2020, using and will use up all the banked points I have, then later, suddenly decide to take a Sept. 2020 vacation, then for Sept. vacation, will the system still use the banked points first, even though they were already allocated on the Dec. vacation?

1. The system uses banked points first, then borrowed points, then current UY points.
2. Once a reservation is made, the points that are used to make the reservation stay with that reservation unless it has been cancelled. So, the points used for the December 2020 trip would stay with that reservation even though September 2020 precedes it.

If you wish to modify the points used, you need to call MS and work with them to reallocate the points, assuming your changes follow the guidelines.

Having trouble quoting Marionettes response. In #2 response, that would mean you're current use year points would be used for the September trip. If, in October you were forced to cancel your December trip, you would lose your banked points. I think we have done it in the past where we had them change the banked points for the December trip and allocate them to the September trip so this wouldn't happen. I would call and see if they can switch them for you.

As noted, the system will use banked before borrowed. But, you can not swap out points from one reservation to another as long as that reservation is still in play. So, to get the banked points from Dec 2020 trip to be used in a September 2020 trip, you would need to cancel out Dec 2020 first.

Even calling MS won't get it done. They can not move points around or reallocate points as long as they are in a current reservation. That can only happen when points are in your account waiting to be used.

Now, if you could rebook any of the nights at the beginning or end of your Dec 2020 trip with points you have now, you can then cancel them out of the original reservation to free up the banked points for September. However, if the Dec 2020 trip has any current UY points, those will be returned before any banked ones are put back.

Thanks for clearing that up. I must have cancelled my later trip, moved the banked points to the earlier reservation and then re-booked the later trip. Fuzzy memory.
