Point transfers - Does UY or Resort matter?

If someone were to transfer points into my account, would they retain their use year and home resort, or would they take on my use year and my home resort?

For example: My use year is September at BCV. If someone with a January use year at OKW transfered 2008 points into my account, could I book at the 11 month timeframe for BCV in Feb 2009?

Transferred points are supposed to retain their use year and resort. You would not be able to use OKW points at 11 months at BCV.

So, if I went ahead with the transfer, I would need to bank the points to 2009 based on their original use year of January, and then I could book for Feb 2009 at the 7 month time frame?

Just an FYI: There is no such thing as a January Use Year. The Use Year months are: Feb, Mar, Apr, Jun, Aug, Sep, Oct and Dec.

At one pint I am almost sure that transferred points could not be banked or borrowed , I do not know if this is still the case , the last time I transferred was back in 1999.

Thanks for the info. I think since I will have to book at the 7 month window, I will wait and see if i can find someone with points that are a better fit for what I am trying to do.
