Point transfer use question

Hi,
A friend of mine is a DVC member and their home resort is the Polynesian. If I where to rent points from some one with a different resort contrac(non Polynesian) and have those points transférer to my friends account. Could those points be used to book something 11 months out at the Polynesian?

“Renting points” is something of a misnomer, because you don’t actually rent points but instead the owner makes a reservation for you and the price you pay is based on the number of points needed.

DVC owners can transfer points to another owner, but only Poly points could be used to make a reservation at Poly 11 months out. Points from a different resort can’t be used for a Poly reservation until 7 months.

Yes but only the Poly points can be used to make the reservation. You can not combine non Poly points to make the Poly reservations 11 months out.

the 11 month out restriction "travels with the points". So whatever resort the points belong to (whether direct, rented, or transferred) is where they can be booked at 11 months. A point can never "move" from one resort to another. If one resorts points mix with another resort (say via transfer), they each still belong to their home resort.

IE if member A has a single contract with 50 points from BLT, and member B transfers them 50 them poly, they now have 50 from BLT and 50 from poly, and the BLT points can only be used at BLT 8-11 months out and the 50 poly points can only be used at poly 8-11 months out. So if they wanted to stay at poly for 90 points booking 10 months out, they can't do it as they would be 40 points short. They could at most book a 50 point trip. At 7 months, it's a free for all and all points are eligible.

To add, members are restricted to only one transfer in or out of their UY so most often, they offer Only a good amount of points,

If you found an owner offering to transfer Poly points, then those could be used with your friends points at 11 months. However transferred points can’t be used online so the friend would have to call to make the reservation. And, you’d want to be sure that the points are eligible for the trip as they retain their own UY.

Any other owner offering points to be transferred would be valid only at 7 months.
