Point transfer to another member

Hi DVC veterans, I have some questions about the logistics of point transfer to another member:

- Are there standard transfer contracts available?

- What information should I provide to the other member to assure them that I have the points to transfer, and will transfer them after receiving payment?

- What information not to provide to avoid problems such as identity theft (I read a www.***********.com thread about a fraudster asking for the owner's membership card)

- What's the safest way to accept payment? What happens if the purchaser claims a charge back after the points have been transferred?

Thanks in advance!

Like renting, transfering points has its risks and requires some trust between the parties.
As per Disney, points have no value and members are not allowed to ask money in exchange for points. There are reports that if you say to MS that you are paying for the points they might not allow the transfer. Most importantly, if anything goes wrong you're on your own, Disney will not help you.
So for point transfers the same rules apply as for rents: make your homeworks, all tips are listed in the sticky thread on the rental board.
I would use an escrow service for the transaction, but that means an additional fee that you would have to pay. Or transfer points from a reputable broker, not only someone like David who also rents point, but also contracts brokers like the Tineshare store.

We did a 3-way call to MS to ensure the owner was legit and points were as advertised and transferrable first. Then both signed a contract, including # and UY of points, both membership numbers, name and address so it was very clear where the points were to be transferred. Paid by PayPal and once funds were received, the transferring owner called MS to transfer points and then he let me know. Then I called MS to confirm all points were there and bank them. Trust on the part of the receiving member in the time between paying and receiving the points is required.

Thank you! I was looking for a detailed explanation of the process just like this. I'm killing time by looking up how to transfer points that I don't even have yet (have a few loaded contracts in ROFR)! :)

Congrats! Love a loaded resale :). You probably know this but you can’t transfer banked points, just the regular non-banked or borrowed points.
