Point Transfer Question...

I have been reading all the threads about point transfers but I am still not sure about it.

I have someone with April 2013 UY points that I want to transfer points from.
So their points are good from April 2013 - March 2014

I have a Dec UY. If I transfer them in, do they have to go in my Dec 2013 UY ?
That would mean I could only use them Dec 2013-March 2014.

Or can I put them in my Dec 2012 UY.

I wanted to use them in September 2013 ?
Is this possible?

The points would have to go into your 2013 UY and you could not borrow them. You could not use them for a Sept 2013 trip.

Think of the transferred in points as though you bought a new temporary contract. So April 2013 points would be fine for a September 2013 reservation.

Points are supposed to be transferred from their 2013 Use Year into your 2013 Use Year, but will retain their original Home Resort and Use Month status.

They can be banked for an additional year if needed but would otherwise still retain their original status so they would be valid for stays from 04/01/13 - 03/31/14 and could be used for a September, 2013 reservation.

You are getting quite a bit of differing info but transfers always seem to have some questions marks.

As I understand it: Transferring in the April 2013 points would use up your 2013 transfer and would in essence be going into your Dec 2013. But - they will retain their UY and home resort status so they could be used for a reservation from today thru March 31, 2014. They also could be banked one time to be valid from April 1, 2014 until March 31, 2015.

So yes - the April 2013 points could be transferred in and used for your Sept 2013 stay.

You may want to verify with MS though before you do anything.

I apologize, I misunderstood and read it as December points transferring into your April Use Year - sorry.

Yes, if you have April, 2013 points transferred into your December, 2013 Use Year they should be available for a stay in September, 2013 since the stay is within the Use Year of the transferred points. You would not be borrowing the transferred points for use and could also borrow points from your December Use Year for the same stay.
