Point transfer question

Hello all,

I have a strange situation I want to relay and get any qualified opinions about.

I have a person who wants me to transfer some points to his account. Unfortunately, the only points I have available are in my 2004 use year.

Member Services says that I can't transfer 2004 points to anyone's account until I am in my 2003 use year.

My question is: In order to get around the restriction. Couldn't I make a bogus reservation valued at the desired number of transfer points effectively borrowing them from 2004 into 2003. Cancel the reservation which would force them to be used in the 2003 use year, and then request a transfer of those points to the other person's account?

Are there any rules/regulations that would prevent this?

Sounds good on the surface BUT you would have to borrow the 2004 points into the 2003 year in order to make your reservation. Once you canced the reservation, you would have borrowed points in your 2003 use year and, according to DVC guidellines, borrowed points cannot be transferred. I am afraid that you won't be able to make this transaction.

You could also wait until you're 2003 use year then transfer the points. My guess is that the point you have wouldn't work for the other party even if you could transfer them since they couldn't borrow them or use before stays starting when your 2004 use year starts anyway. Banked and borrowed points cannot be tranferred.
