Point Rate Increase

This may be an old topic but I missed it. We just went in to plan our 2010 vacation and found out that the points have been increased for weekday and decreased for weekend.

To the best of my memory, they were never supposed to change. If you bought 5 nights worth, you would always be able to get 5 nights. Can anyone explain what happened?

The only thing that can't change is the total number of allocated points in a year. They can readjust and redistribute the points throughout the year, weekdays and weekends as much as they wish.
