Point morphing appears to be alive and well...

It seems it's business as usual.

A member is on the rent/trade board today offfering points for sale. I know from the past that she rents for well over $12-$13 per point, which by the way, is a fair price.

But just in the last month, she was on the board asking to buy/transfer points, willing to pay $8 per point.

All hail the commercial renter it seems!

I was hoping this would have been taken care of by now.

May not be as bad as you think...

MS is holding to the 1 transfer per year, so unless she has a lot of different contracts it won't help her too much. Plus, how do you know for sure that morphing is taking place? Last I read here MS was requiring extra time before reservations after a transfer, supposedly making sure the points were kept separate.

If someone is trying to morph, hopefully they will have a rude awakening.

There is also evidence that was just posted on the boards that MS is still not tracking transfers correctly. A Dis board member had points transferred into their account. Those points morphed into the resort points that member owned. They did not retain the required home resort status.

The one limit is helping but not eliminating the problem I guess.

I remember that one and it was only about a week or so ago. Now unless I was planning a "major gathering" at my home resort, I don't think it would matter. DH asked me about getting a transfer from a VB or HH owner(to use the 11month window) and had to explain it's hard for those points not to become SSR points in our contract.

To be fair, I'd say what I saw over on the Rent/Trade board mentioned by the OP is more a case of "commercial" activity than proven morphing. They are scooping up distressed points and reselling them. I'd guess the morphing end is more about extending the life of those transferred points rather than morphing in the sense of having them become points at another resort. Still morphing to some degree but slightly different.

We are all guessing however.

Because "Maria", "Somewhere" in "America" "Tonight", someone is morphing points and it's just not "Cool". But even though I've had points morph myself, still "I Feel Pretty", but it's just "One Hand, One Heart" and definitely only one transfer per contract.

I will tell you that Member Services told me that the points kept their Resort UY and Identity. I have been looking for my Home Resort points for my one transfer. I guess the only thing that changed is enforcing the one transfer.

This doesn't bother me as much as when I tried to book a week in March for my sister and everything was full. Then amazingly the same week, someone had 2 studios reservations for rent at the BWV here on the boards, and on ebay somebody else had 2 OKW studios reservations for rent.

Did I read something about the number of reservations a member could hold at one time somewhere or something like MS could refuse to book you a reservation if you have many already booked that looked like you couldn't possibly use them all, something like that?

Clearly (okay, almost clearly) these people had no intention of using these studios as there was still time for them to cancel without the points going into holding. Yes, yes, maybe they had to use up the points, but rent out the points instead of holding up villas that other members want to book.

There is a market out there, my sister paid $12/point for a BWV studio that I was unable to get her with my points.
