Point in Reservation status question

We purchased an add-on thru resale with points in reservation status to be used before Sept. Booked a trip for August, staying at POR. If we call DVC the day before we leave and they have availability at OKW, why couldn't we change our reservation? I understand how this all works, but if there are empty rooms just sitting at OKW, why wouldn't they allow a DVC member to use them at the last minute?

I'm not sure I understand your question? Was the POR reservation made using DVC points?

No they won't, these are no longer DVC points but essentially represent cash. They will let rooms sit empty before they will let you use them as you suggest. I know many in your situation would think it makes no sense but looking at the big timeshare picture they really can't give this type of flexibility because of the possible chaos it could cause.

Reservation points are no longer DVC points. Once they've been converted, they cannot be used to reserve DVC in any way.

when you did this (well, when the previous contract owner did this), you traded the points out of the DVC system. you told DVC to take those DVC pts and book a OKW villa and sell it for cash so you can use those pts for a wdw hotel room (which DVC has to pay for with the cash from the OKW reservation). the DVC pts have already been used, so they can't be used again within the DVC system. that's why you now have "reservation pts" instead of DVC pts.
