A lot of people are talking about how point hungry the resorts are getting.
I only stay in studios, and in my eyes, I think its justified.
I love Beach Club, but the studios are totally basic. I love and own at Boulder Ridge. Same thing. Basic. Room...small bathroom, etc.

I own at VGF. Comparing a VGF studio to a BRV studio or a BCV studio....it should be more points, its a lot nicer! (the split bathroom being a big thing). Same at the Poly.

So I wanted to know what others who stay in different room categories (1 BR, 2BR, GV - oh and everyone staying in the Bora Bora Bungalows ;) ) what their thoughts were on the differences in the rooms between the more point hungry resorts, and the less point hungry ones. Because in the studios, I tend to see a difference. Maybe it justifies the extra points, maybe it doesnt, but there is a difference in what you are getting.

I definitely love VGF and am perfectly okay spending more there. I do think it’s a better experience, not only with the robes in the room, but the free coffee in the lobby, not to mention what you already did.

I have stayed at Poly and think those rooms were worth the extra, I think what it does for me is make the other resorts a bargain when I need to save points.

I am going in May and June and because I’m hoping to do VGF for the June trip, I’ve decided to save points and downgrade to BWV standard..lol

I agree, if I’m going to stay in a studio, it will be a point hungry one, as I find those are better in terms of comfort and resort amenities. Everywhere else I’d get a 1bed for probably the same amount of points.

Less difference in 1 beds in terms of quality / size in my view, albeit VGF and Riviera look the nicest, but it’s often not a huge gulf and I believe this is partly because they are the latest resorts. The BCV and BWV refurbs were just okay, the budget was pretty limited. Same with OKW. But with the SSR one, wow they really upped the game with that one, the studios are of course the same size as they always were as are the 1 beds, but in terms of look and feel, there is not much difference in my view between those new SSR rooms and say Riviera. I hope they’ll do Boulder Ridge to the same high level.
If they extended the Skyliner down to SSR, the points per night at Riviera would look even more expensive than they already do.

I have to totally agree with you there. The SSR refurbishment has me taking another look. That said, with little kids who are still primarily interested in parks - and specifically MK - the proximity to parks is still the biggie.

Sincerely,
Someone who booked the Swan on points over SSR last year for a last minute trip

10 points a night for OKW in Jan, early Dec and Sept work fine for me.

I agree, the SSR refurbishment is very nice. The only one thing I do not like is the tile they used in the stand up shower in the 1 and 2 bedroom units. I don’t like the look of it and think they could have chosen something better. We just stayed i a 2 bedroom lake view at VGF and I think the only thing VGF has above it is the master bath. There is no way rearrange it to compare. That shower is 4’ by 8’, it is huge

Wonder how popular SSR will get after the refurb is done? I thought it was great last April. But me hitting the lottery location with it might have helped sway my opinion, lol.

I think the rooms we redone so well because they hope it will reduce the number of people that use SSR points as sleeping around points. Make the rooms nice enough and you don't have as many SSR owners trying to walk a reservation at another resort. With all the points owned at SSR, they have to find a way to sway more people to use their points there.

SHHH... from all of us SSR owners that like the flexibility of not rushing our plans and still be able to get what we want. Please keep booking elsewhere...Tongue in cheek...It makes me like my resort even more.

Ya, I think that might very well happen. I love the resort.

By this logic, don't buy DVC at all. The CRO side of the Grand Floridian is a lot nicer.
