Ok, I have heard stories about errors in members accounts in both directions and I sort of ignored them in the past because it never happend to me.

Well, all of a sudden after the Kidani switch over on Sunday, I have 60 extra points showing.

What do I do?

Call in and have them fix it?
Do nothing?
Book a couple of days gratis for my troubles ;)
 
That's a good question! I'd probably wait a few days and see if it's just a glitch and that they fix it. Then I'd probably call and check on it. I'd sure hate to plan on a couple of days gratis and find out later that the points had been corrected.

Wait and see what happens before calling. It may take care of itself. If you call now and they take the 60 away and then the system catches up and takes the 60 too, you will end up being 60 in the hole.

Call when things quiet down and have them fix it.
 
What does the activity list show? Is your reservation there? Also check your next use year, one time they borrowed points from the next year when I still had points in the current year.

it only shows the original '07-> '08 banking transaction to make my original Jambo res. Nothing for the transactions from Sunday even though everything should be showing as a cancelation and new booking. Those historical records are laughable at best when it comes to accuracy.

My reservation is indeed there, correct and also shows the proper # of points being used for the current reservation. I borrowed my '09 use year points so I had none to worry about, but everything else is in order.

Did you get a different confirmation number for your Kidani reservation? I'm curious if it was a cancel and rebook or if they just changed the booking category (from Jambo to Kidani) and kept the same confirmation number.
 
Hmmm, I don't think the Tooth Fairy lighted down with some points for your account, LOL! I would call MS and have it researched as I would be afraid about any discrepancies in existing reservations, room cateogory, etc. Good luck!

A new #. I'm waiting for the sheet to come in the mail and make sure it matches what it correctly shows online as a 2bdrm l/o kidani sav view.

I will call just to straighten it out. The way I book rooms, I don't think I'd be able to really use that point set easily anyway. Most of our reservations are at the 11 -10 month point anyway and using a 3 year bank-borrow set. It would fall outside our vacation plan unless I just extended while onsite, it would never work.

That and it's dishonest ;)
 
I had 38 extra points put in my account one time when switching reservations. The person at MS could see that it was wrong, but not how to fix it. She said, " I guess you are just lucky." I called a few times, spoke to different people, and they all said I must be wrong, not the computer.
Five months later, when I was making another reservation, the points disappeared, and that person couldn't explain what happened either.
But I knew the points weren't really mine, so I told him not to worry about it.

Sooner or later, the points will disappear. Extra points I wouldn't worry about. Missing points I would worry about!
 
I check my points monthly and have never gained a point but did lose ten once. When I called and asked, they told me that because I had changed my reservation, that the points were in a holding account. When I reminded them that I got a larger room thus used more points so no holding should've applied, she said "you are correct" and I had the points back within the week.

Even if I did gain points, I would follow up after some wait time. If they could mess my points up to my favor, it would be just as easy to mess them up to my detriment. Besides, the guilt would kill me :goodvibes
 
I did call in and it required 3 days and 3 people to fix the issue(s). I guess their computers don't know how to add -OR- subtract properly (not joking around at all here, that was the underlying issue for real) so they had to go through each minor transaction made, through a point transfer, banking /borrowing my own points twice and a reservation switch over to find all their mistakes, of which there were several. I also learned that what you see on the member web site is only the results of transactions as their computers see it and it has no bearing on reality whatsoever, however, it may in fact be a more accurate than what MS sees, but not always (nice huh). In other words, it’s essentially useless for record keeping without follow up with MS.

They did say that when accounting ordered a point balancing "program" run at some undisclosed date, it would have seen us being out of balance and it could have canceled our reservation without our knowledge since the points needed to make the reservation would not be accounted for (also nice huh).

I told them I wanted a gift basket for my troubles and honesty (jokingly) and he chuckled and said ok (also jokingly).

Watch a gift basket and a dessert tray show up and I get charged twice for them with a Thank You card made out to “Mr. Acavano”. At least I’d get a laugh out of it.
