To me more on the line of BCV, VWL or SSR.

I think it's going to be the highest among all DVC resorts.

Wonder if they will have a separate savannah view category. I would not want to use my points there unless I was guaranteed the savannah view.

I think Disney is testing the waters. My guide told me when i called to put my name on the list for AKL that there are thousands on the list. Disney will get a good feal for pricing. Some of the people selling SSR in the parks say the cost to buy will be very high.

I thought about selling one of my SSR contracts so I could buy an VAKL contract. But I think I'll just stay put.

I think it's unlikely AKL will be totally different than the rest. I believe one can look at BCV, BWV & VWL and get an idea and that the same type unit will be the same number of points. Now there may be some differences appropriate to different room types but I think a studio, 1 BR, 2 BR and GV are likely to be the same in general as BWV preferred. While I wouldn't be surprised if there are some SV type units, I think it's not that likely. Some have postulated concierge type units and of course those would be more if it happened though I doubt it will. And some have suggested a formal sleep 5 1 BR and they may or may not be more. I also think it's unlikely DVC will try to jack up the price too much early on. My best guess is they will start selling pre-opening at or near the current non discounted SSR price and announce a price increase around that time that will become effecting around June or July. They may offer a few incentives such as they have for SSR but likely to a lessor degree. Both of these positions are c/w DVC's past history of approaches to new WDW resorts including BWV, BCV, VWL & SSR. But we should know for certain within a few months.

I simply don't believe that there are thousands of people who have actually called guides to be put on a waiting list to purchase at Animal Kingdom. I hate when sales people make those exaggerated comments because it comes off as so "shady used car salesman."

IMHO, DVC just doesn't need that kind of salesperson. . .

I thought the press announcement said that all DVC rooms would have some type of savanna view?

Are you sure he didn't say tens of thousands?
:scratchin

The point chart for AKL is in your 2007-2008 vacation planner, page 24.

Now, if you meant AKV, then those points haven't been announced yet. :confused3

AKL is the Lodge, with regular hotel rooms and is similar to BWI, BC, WL. :teeth:

AKV will be DVC and will be similar to BWV, BCV, VWL. :thumbsup2

Here on the DIS, AKV is the official designation for the new DVC villas at Animal Kingdom, and AKL continues to be the designation for the current Animal Kingdom Lodge.

hee hee. Thanks for giving this thread the the perspective it deserves. If indeed the OP is talking about AKV, there is no point in speculating about the point charts for the new villas. I expect the patterns of past slaes will prevail. After all, it will still be part of the DVC system, so available to all of us at the 7th month window even if we don't own there. I agree the cost might be significantly higher, but I doubt the point cost per unit would be that far out of the realm of the other DVC resorts. Sure, they might be higher because of larger units. I seriously doubt there are "thousands on the waitlist", since my guide could not talk about it at all, and said we could talk when we are down next week.

I disagree. based on the higher points for SSR compared to OKW.

really think that AKV will be higher. or should I say that the savannah views if they do include concierge will be higher. these will be only the hotels rooms they are converting.

can't see a savannah view with concierge going for 12 points. now without the concierge - 12 to 14 points - but with the concierge at least 15 points. studio - adventure season.

Just my $0.02. I predict that there will be two levels of point requirements similar to the BVW standard and preferred. IMO The Savanah view is too desirable to do it any other way.

I'm not too sure about the number of points being higher for AKV. Do we have an estimate on when pre-sales will begin and the info will be available?

I agree they will be higher, but not by huge amounts as some would have us believe. The reason for OKW being different is because it was DVC's first foray into the timeshare realm. With SSR, they tried to re-aclimate a bit by making the other DVCs higher than OKW and SSR, which are farther removed and not directly accessible to a Disney park. I too believe the Savanna view will be more points than a non-savanna view.

Given the principles and balance for the other resorts at WDW after OKW, I think SSR was right where it should have been. Remember it was lower than the others. SSR is simply higher overall mainly related to the different balance of weekdays vs weekends which is the same in principle as for BCV, BWV and VWL compared to OKW. So if you want a wager, I'm game. How about dinner for 2 at La Cellier. I'll take the side that says that the same type of unit will be the same points at VWL, BCV & BWV preferred. We'll throw out any units that are out of character such as concierge included or a separate sleep 5 category plus GV as there is little to compare other than the 7 at BWV. Up for a friendly wager Pat?

Not what I heard in the parks at all. Everyone we spoke with stated that we could expect similar pre-sales discounts, etc. to past experiences. Initial buy-in will have to slightly higher than SSR, though I doubt it will be much. And I agree with others...there is no way there are thousands on the wait list.

Remember that the size of this resort (once complete) will be third largest...they can't price it too high or it will take forever to sell out. And due to its size, even if there are thousands on the list, it isn't going to sell out overnight.
