Point change for room?

I did a point calculator for June 15 for 2008 at SSR. for 2bd/rm for Sun thru Friday and the total was 248pts. I am planning for next year June 20th and now they are 259 pts.

I was under the impression the price of rooms on pts would always stay the same depending only on the season. This would be the same season as 2008 wouldn't it? Can you explain? Thank goodness I do have points to cover the increase I wasn't planning.

TOTAL number of points for resort always stays the same but those points can be reallocated ( and have been as of 2010 ) - such as if raised during one season then lowered in another, if raised for weekday nights then lowered on weekend nights.

The points for the resort stay the same but they just did a reallocation where they changed the points needed for certain times. If your time frame went up there is another that went down. The most noticeable is that they increased the weeknight points and decreased the weekend ones in some areas. If you normally book Sunday through Thursday you may indeed find that you need more points for that same reservation for 2010. It is only the 2nd or 3rd time they have done this since DVC started.

Thanks so much I thought I was loosing it. We stay Sunday thru Friday thank goodness I had points with 10 to spare! We would have had to shorten trip by a day and that would not be good because we took an Easter trip last year without family that we could have skiped.

Basically all S-F stays went up, many the full 20%. It's likely there will be further changes in the future that will also be negative to S-F stays. There could also be many other changes that would reduce some of the flexibility of the system in some people's eye's.

Do you know any specifics of that? Yes, a Sunday-Friday stay may have gone up 20%. That's about what ours did at HHI. It used to "cost" 85 points, now it's 100 points.

The POS limit is a 20% change and DVC did shift roughly that from weekend to weekdays resulting in around a 20% increase in weekdays in general.
