POFQ vs. BCV Studio?

I have a dilema...

I have res at POFQ for 6 nites at the internet rate of $89 (thanks to Mousesavers). After some searching, I found I can buy a Beach Club Villas Studio reservation for approx. the same money for 5 of the 6 nites. I'm considering staying at POFQ the first nite, then transferring to BCV for the remaining nites.

My family (DH, DD-4 and DS-1) tends to be a 'moderate' vacationing family - we like the food courts, the more casual atmosphere. On the other hand, we like the idea of being able to use Stormalong Bay, the proximity to Epcot and MGM and the fridge/microwave in the studio. We won't have a car.

Comments?

Thanks!

Sounds like an excellent plan. I own at BCV and I think it is a great value if the pricing equals what you would have paid at POFQ. Just understand that maid service will not be included except for a service on the 4th day of your BCV visit.

Great deal for a BCV studio. I'd take that if I could get it. We love EPCOT so it would be so very perfect for us. The POFQ is fantastic and I have stayed there twice, but just drool over the thought of staying at a BCV studio for the same rate. Sounds like a good move to me.

Now, if you'd like a view overlooking EPCOT at Spaceship Eartch see if you can request room #559. I saw a photo from the balcony there (or may have been the 1 bedroom next door) - great view of The Land pavillioni and Spacechip Earth over the trees.

I'm hoping to do a BCV next May/June. Let us know how it goes if you do stay there.

We stayed at DxL (now PORS) prior to joining DVC.

There are a couple of things to be aware of...

In a moderate, you will get two double beds (unless you booked a King). In a DVC studio you will have a queen sized bed and a pull out couch. If you had three or four adults, this would be a concern. Your childern may not mind the pullout, but you should know this prior to deciding.

The studio will have a mini-kitchen (Microwave, Refrig, Coffee Maker, Toaster) which can really reduce your food expenses. We like to eat breakfast in the room and then head out.

The big advantage of staying at either the BCV or BWV is the access to EPCOT and MGM. You can walk to either and take afternoon breaks, which will really help with the kids. Of course, SAB is the best pool at any hotel on site also.

I would recommend doing one night at POFQ and the rest at BCV.

Enjoy your trip!

Just to elaborate on what sgtpet stated about the maid service. If you are staying at BCV on a cash ressie and not on DVC points, you will get daily maid service.

The every 4th day service is for DVC point guests only. One of the things we had to give up.
