Thanks everyone! My mom, who lives with me, got up yesterday morning and decided out of the blue to go with me. I was able to get airfare for her for a decent price on my Spirit flight, so decided to go ahead and switch from a standard room at POFQ to a pool view at AKL. She'll turn 79 y/o the day after we get back, so we'll probably spend even more time than I usually would at the resort, so AKL seemed a better option than POFQ. It will be a different type trip than what I originally planned, but am still looking forward to it. Thanks again!

Honestly, If I were spending more time around the resort, I'd want POFQ.

Way more to do and see IMO. Sure AKL has a Savannah, but my family had enough of that after 2 or 3 days, and we felt like we were far away from everything (exception being AK).

POFQ has beautiful grounds and a boat for visiting 3 other properties (POR, OKW, SSR) as well as DTD.

Again, this is just my opinion.

I'm sure you and your mom will have a great time either way.

Funny, my then 77 year old mom was w/ me the one time we stayed @ POFQ, we arrived @ AKL for our Boma dinner early and as she sank into one of the AKL lobby chairs, she sighed and said "now, this is nice!"
I think you made the right choice, I prefer AKL to POFQ. If you plan on eating @ Jiko and paying for it - do look into the Wanyama dinner safari - pricey, but it does include dinner/wine at Jiko - so worth it, IMO.

My vote was for AKL. If money isn't an issue, I would always vote for a Deluxe over a moderate. I may be biased though as AK is not only my favorite resort, it is my home resort as well.
