POFQ... standard view, gardenview, riverview?

Hi all!

After weeks of trying to decide on which resort to stay at, we've decided on POFQ. I'm ready to make the reservations but have one little question:

We're just asking for a "standard room". We're trying to cut costs here and there, and though a riverview would be lovely, decided it wasn't necessary. We also don't care for a poolview. My kids, who are older teens, will be spending time at the waterparks instead and my parents, who will also be with us, would probably appreciate a quieter area. I would guess that many people with smaller children would ask for poolviews.

I know when you state that you want a standard room, you run the risk of getting a parking lot view. When asking for preferences, should I state that I would prefer a gardenview? or just wait until we arrive and hope that we're not looking at a parking lot?

And as long as I'm asking.....is a riverview worth it?

Thanks.... this board is really very helpful!

Definitely tell them when you book that you would prefer a garden view. They won't guarantee it but if it's on your reservation they will try to get it for you if possible. We always pay the extra for the water view. I enjoy stepping out at the railing and gazing at the view but most think if it's not a private balcony then it's a waste of the extra money. We are staying at PO/FQ next trip too and from what I hear you're close to everything there no matter where your room is so you could walk to the river or pool in just a short time.

Any building is close to the necessary places; pool, food court, front desk, etc. We stayed in building 5 last time, as we had asked for something close to the food court. It was about 45 seconds to the rear door of the food court. We had a garden room which was nice. We were directly in front of the laundry which was wonderful The last time we went to POFQ, there was an unexpected, unpredicted, cold snap and I mean cold, and we brought mostly shorts, etc. so we did a lot of laundry. Also, at this building , you could avoid walking through the main area and food court to go to the busstop. There was a path behind the main building and to the right of the food court with about a 3-5 minute walk. We have also stayed in building 3 on our other visits. Sometimes upstairs and sometimes, down. This building was very convenient. The balconies are not private, as they run nd continuously for the length of the building. It is a great resort and our seconnd favorite after WL. We have had partial parking lot views with standard room requests, but it is no biggie. You don't notice the lot unless you go outside and really look for it.

A few years ago, we had a standard room at POFQ, we ended up with a partial parking lot view... This time we decided to spend the extra money on a King room. It's hard to sleep in a double when your use to a Queen at home. When booking the room, they could garentee us a King (since that's what we are paying for) and we requested a river or court yard view.

I personally would not pay for a River/Water view, if they can give it to me great... but not worth extra money. I prefer not to be to close to the pool... those rooms tend to be noisy.

Last year at CBR we booked a standard, then a few days before we left we faxed our request. We asked for a quiet court yard room on the second floor (we hate to hear the people above us) in a particular section. All our requests were met, and we had a fabulously quite room.

What ever you choose to do I hope you enjoy POFQ:jester: as much as we do.

Thanks....I appreciate the comments. I'm getting really excited about this whole trip. Can't wait to get there! :bounce:
