POFQ Room request help

We leave for our first trip to WDW in 12 days. We are staying for 10 nights at POFQ with our 7 yo & 2 yo.

We paid for a standard view. Does this mean we will only be overlooking a parking lot? How would I word a request to avoid this (and the subsequent noise)?

Should I request a ground level room due to the stroller or does it not matter?

I have seen a number of times that Bldg. 4 is the one to request. Any others that would be good alternatives if that is not an option available? (I would really like a refurbished room due to dust mite allergies.)

Lastly, how and when can I make the request - on the phone? fax? online?

Thank you for surviving all these questions! I am a newbie and overwhelmed - but excited!!!

We've stayed in a standard view room at FQ twice. Both loacations were super! One was the back side of building 4, just a few doors away from the end of the building that is closest to the food court. The other was in building 2, on the side facing the pool/playground in the middle of the building. This was my favorite room because even though we were super close to the main building, we got to walk through a little of the resort and enjoy the theming. Both times I requested to be near the food court. You may also want to request a building that is not near the parking lot if you want to prevent that view-check a map first. I also like to request 1st floor when I have young kids with me. I hope you enjoy your stay-we love FQ!

I would call and add your building number request to your reservation.

Just request a courtyard view.....it is still a standard room but should avoid the parking lot issue. Bldg 4 and 6 are both refurbished already and both have beautiful courtyard views and everywhere is very close to the main building and buses.

It doesn't really matter what floor you are on regarding the stroller....all rooms are accessible by elevator. However (and this is just my experience) we have always preferred a first floor room especially with small kids. Your 7 year old will have easy access to the courtyard for running around and playing (in sight of your room of course) which will make him or her happier than being trapped 2 or 3 floors up. Also, after our first trip when we were on the top floor, we have always requested the first floor. We bring our baby monitor (and our kids are 8 and 9), tuck in the kids for the night, and then find a nice close-by park bench to sit on (within sight of our room door) and enjoy an evening beverage and chat while the kids are settling to sleep. You get some much needed adult time instead of being trapped in the room playing possum! The courtyard between bldgs 5,4, and 6 has many benches to sit on to enjoy the wonderful ambiance of this beautiful resort!

Enjoy yourselves.....we did last year and will again this coming August:woohoo:

Thank for your responses and great ideas. Do I call the resort directly or just the general Disney reservations number? Is it too many requests (Bldg. 4, courtyard view and first floor) or should I prioritize and only request one of the three preferences? Thank you again!

FWIW, we were in building 4 near the parking lot, but our view was of the gardens (located between the building and the parking lot). It did not seem as if there are a lot of strictly parking lot views at FQ. The elevator was in the middle of the building so we did not feel like we were going that far out of our way to use it.

Another thing about the view - there are wooden blinds on the windows. If these are open, anyone can easily see in your room. If you like your privacy, then you'll likely keep them closed and then the view won't really matter.

It is a very small resort, so none of the buildings are that far away from the main building - there are just ones that are closer.

I would just stick to requesting a recently refurbished room - citing allergies as the main reason. If you make too many request, you give them a shorter list of rooms to choose from and decrease your chances of getting what you want.

You call the CRO number; you are never calling directly to the resort; all you are reaching is a remote call center than answers as if they are in the resort.
