I just talked to my CM friend and he stated that POFQ is going to be rehabbing some rooms while doing the pool too. Hopefully they are replacing the carpet, beds and curtains in the old smoking rooms.

That is a GREAT idea! I hope that it is true. No matter what anyone says you CANNOT thoroughly clean the smell of smoke out of a room that has been smoked in over a long period of time! It definitely stays in the carpet, bedding, curtains and walls!:goodvibes

I wish they did this before our April trip. We stayed there (I think it was building 5 or 6) and it was by far the worst resort. We had a broken TV (took the front desk 3 days to either fix or replace it), there was broken wall/ floor tiles in the bathroom/ sink area, mold on the shower curtain. It was by my expectations a very VERY dumpy resort. I won't ever stay there again. There are too many other nice Disney resorts than to pay mid $ for a resort that should in no way be classified as a moderate.

I've never had such a problem there. It's too bad you did.

I can not imagine that they would be doing anything major. The POFQ was just refurbished in 2002. Generally a resort would not be refurbished again just a few years later.

Wow, sorry to hear that. We were also there in April and stayed in building 5 and had absolutely no problems. We all loved the resort and are going back at the end of April.

Maybe we just got a bad room (or maybe it was a room they forgot to remodel from 2002). It was just a bad experience all the way around. I tried to explain the problems to the front desk, and they were rude as well. For me, there will be no second time which is fine by me. I'll gladly go back and stay at AKL.

NY OUTLAW, we had the same experience you did. We stayed at POP for one night and moved over to POFQ for the next three nights. Boy, we wished we had not! We were in the building right beside the pool. We were on the second floor facing the pool. Overall a good location. Our room was another story. We had connecting rooms with my sister-in-law. The bedspreads had holes, the room was musky, the room had dust piled in the corners, and stains were all over the carpet. I did not even want to walk on the carpet barefoot. My sister-in-law's room was in the same shape as ours. We were just disappointed because we were paying $208. a night. The food court was always a mess. It also seemed the staff just did not want to be there. We won't be back here either. I am glad Disney has so much more to offer. I have stayed pretty much everywhere on property except Beachclub and Boardwalk. POFQ has been my least favorite.

Oh no!!! The room sounds terrible and I recently booked POFQ on the bounce back promotion while I was at DW in December. I've been staying at Pop on my last 5 trips and we just thought we'd try something new. What building were you in? I'll have to read more reviews to see if we'll switch resorts. Our trip isn't till August. We've always been happy with Pop.

All I can say is if you think that resort interests you, stay there. Just because that was my experience it might not be yours. I personally felt it was not worth our money. My husband and I both agreed that POP was in better condition and we overall had better service at POP. One thing that really bothered me at POFQ is that the housekeeping would leave the carts in the cobble stone streets. Not just for an hour, all day and night. Everytime we went out on the balcony, that is what we saw, a cart full of dirty sheets and towels. I could understand it being left out for a couple hours, but not all day long. And the food court was so small and slow and dirty. We just had a bad experience overall. But, WE LOVE DISNEY! Another note: we have stayed at POR before and been happy with it. It has a little more to offer than POFQ. And it has one of the best food courts on Disney (besides POP).

Even though all of the resorts are now non-smoking, I would play it safe an ask for a room in what used to be "non-smoking."

We visited POFQ within ONE month after their total refurbishment and took a "smoking" room at that time because of its location. I did not think it could be too bad after less than a month of being renovated.

Wrong..... we could not stay in it...we had to move to another room. I can only imagine what a former "smoking" room would be like after several years of being used--even though it is now classed as "nonsmoking."

Wow, where were all you posters when i put up my initial review ripping FQ...people flamed me for posting such a lousy review of their "beloved" FQ. :worship: We should come up with a new thread- "the worst things about FQ" I bet it would get a handful of posts...:lmao:

Please don't change your plans because of one bad review. You have to understand that this is just one out of hundreds of thousands - 90% of who absolutely love the resort. And as far a NY Outlaw - I think she makes it her life's work to bash FQ especially if you read her comments above. Honestly, I would not pay a bit of attention to what she says.

Hi
Thanks for the encouragement. We'll probaby keep our reservations at POFQ. I know my DGD (5) will love the sea serpent slide. Also, we wanted to stay at a smaller resort with less walking. After walking around the parks all day, I didn't want to have a far walk to the pool and food court.

I would not pay attention to NY Outlaw either. We have stayed at 4 different resorts & POFQ was absolutely our favorite of the 4. Even our 2 DS's thought this was the best one yet!! We were in building 3 (Non Smoking) at the time & we thought it was great!! The CM's were wonderful & friendly, the grounds beautiful, Elliott Dyson in Scat Cat lounge was awesome & the pool was great.
We will go back again & again & again (I hope)!!!

I don't know what your problem is, but I am entitled to my own opinion. I never said people can't like FQ. You DO NOT need to tell ME that I have to like it though. I (yes I said I- not YOU) will not be going back. I don't understand what the issue is with that.

On our last trip my DS's were almost 6 and 4.5. Let me just tell you, they would not get off that slide ;) . The pool is so neat for little ones and really nice for adults as well. Plus, there's a hot tub and a nice playground as well. Please don't second guess yourself, and have a great trip :goodvibes

First of all I'm not a she- and no I'm not making life's work to bash FQ. But as far as I'm concerned I paid my hard earned money to choose a disney resort- why is my opinion from MY money such an issue for you? I stayed at AKL- and I loved it. No I did not love FQ. If you got the lousy room I did- and the front desk did nothing to rectify the situation- then i bet you would have a different impression of the resort. You don't like what I have to post- then just ignore me. Actually I'm not the only one who didn't like the resort- but you have this problem with me specifically and problably personally. Oh-well. I only get a week's vacation after being in the same place for over 12 years- I'm darn entitled to my own opinion- maybe I'm not like you- and get weeks vacations on end where I can go to disney anytime I want. Disney trips for us are special. I'm not defending my opinion to you any more, nor do I need to.
