Hello all-

We stayed at POFQ last week (5-7 thru 5-15). It was a me and mom trip. We had connecting rooms in bldg. 3 on the second floor facing the parking lot. I mostly got my requests, which was connecting and close and we were very pleased with the location. We had no issues with Mousekeeping as some have reported. Very quiet stay, with only the occasional turbo toilet. Also had a power outage for about 15-20 minutes. Talk about exciting--we had just stepped off the elevator! We discovered that you could see the Epcot fireworks from outside our door and this was a pleasant surprise. Bus service was good and they were only crowded at park closing. One of the fridges had a broken cabinet door when we checked in. I called the next morning and it was fixed when we got back later that day. This was my second stay at POFQ and it was an enjoyable experience. Just right for us old folks--quiet, small, and laid back. Will be happy to answer any questions.

Glad to hear you had such a nice stay at POFQ! My DD & I will be doing a split stay with Pop Century and Port Orleans! We're doing a "Mom & Me" trip too!!!

We stayed at POFQ in 1992 and again in 1998! I think my DD(9) will love the pool slide! Can't wait til June! :Pinkbounc

Glad to hear you and your Mom enjoyed POFQ!! As you know, I was staying at POR, and while the grounds are beautiful, I've decided I prefer POFQ! The bus service was good - especially at 6:30 a.m. - Remember?!!! :rotfl:

Did you eat at the food court? What did you think?

RachelTori--you are too funny! How could I ever possibly forget the 6:30am bus? I did go back to Guest Services at POFQ and tell them what time the MK bus started running. They told me if everyone knew that the breakfast folks would not be able to get on the bus. Can you believe that? There was no one around except all us Regis and Kelly folks! We did eat at the food court a few times. We had breakfast sandwiches a couple of mornings and a cheeseburger one evening. Also slipped in a few beignets! The food was fine and the place was not crowded when we were around. For some reason, I don't trust the meals they have, so we just did fast food type items. It's not like we were starving ourselves last week!

Does Guest Services think people will start arriving at the parks over 2 hours before opening because we love the parks that much?!!!! :rotfl2:

Maybe y'all can answer a few questiosn for me...I am travelling to POFQ in July. 3 boys all age 17 and two adults. In the past I have stayed ata the contemporary, but because of so many I decided to get two rooms. I guess my question is will we like the place. I mean my son and I are spoiled...(in a good way) Will we really like the POFQ? All I read say yes, but still I have concerns...

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, you WILL like POFQ!! It's small size makes it easy to get around, it's a pretty quiet resort, the pool is better than many (definitely better than Contemporary's!). Make sure you read the street signs too - kind of cute! The resort is located on the river and you can take the boat to DTD. Bus service is OK - no monorail, but with 3 teenage boys, I'll bet you don't spend too much time at MK anyway! ;)

Enjoy the EMH's!!

Billylen,

We just returned from POFQ and have booked another stay there in Dec. You'll love it! The resort is beautiful and quiet.

The boys will probably love having the ability to hop on the boat right at POFQ to head to Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island, which I'd let them do on their own if they're good kids. There's plenty to keep the boys busy at Dowtown Disney -- some less expensive dining options like McDonald's, a candy store, several other stores, Ghiradelli's for chocolate or icecream, and lots of people just hanging out. Did you get them DisneyQuest tix?

The pool at POFQ is nice -- very cute theme, but not big enough to hold the attention of 3 teenage boys for long.

I found the wrought iron fences and charming courtyards wonderful and I'm sure you'll enjoy them as well. Keep the boys fed and let them hang out at Downtown Disney and they're likely to be happy as well.

My son (well all of them) is 17. They are all good kids. I want to spend time with them yes. This is the summer before my son and his bus start their senior year! So I am making it a big blast. We are going to do the food optio and the tickets will ahve the Disney quest option too, so I think they will be ok.

I think when we stayed at the contemporary the monorail was right there and we stayed on the Tower Club lever so I felt he was secure, but now they are all taller then me so i want to to roam around on their own. I trust them.

I gather you thisk they will do ok...

Now, you mention the pool will not hold the boys for long. Is the one at the sister resort (POR) better?

We were there for the power outage!!! We were just getting ready to leave after our afternoon break to go eat at ESPN Club, when the power went out. My mother was so glad we hadn't left yet, because she and DD had been taking the elevator all week! After that, she would not set foot in the elevator again! It seemed to be not just POFQ, but the area around it, because the stop lights on Bonnet Creek Pkwy were out as well. I don't know how long the power was out, but I do know it messed up the computer system at Jackson Square gifts. We stopped in there when we returned to the resort later that night so my dad could exchange his Magical Express voucher for a free pin and lanyard, and there was only one register working, a line practically out the door, and a whole bunch of really frazzled CM's!

We did not get on the elevator anymore either! The power was out about 15-20 minutes. I called the front desk and they said a transformer blew.
