Due to some circumstances beyond my control, we have to change from WL to a Moderate. My first choice is POFQ, I think, then POR. I need any and all help I can get. My mom needs the fully accessible bathroom, does it have the King Bed or 2 fulls? Is this a good choice, we have never stayed at a Moderate before.

Please help

Suzanne

Both resorts are nice.
The rooms at both are basically the same plan and from what other posters have previously written, there are King rooms and rooms with 2 double beds. So, you could get either type. Just make sure when checking in that it is clear how many people you have.
A lot of people with disabilities like POFQ because it is a smaller resort and is quite compact. The grounds are beautiful and because it is pretty small, it's not much distance between things.

POR is a larger resort with 2 sections, the mansions and Alligator Bayoo. The main difference between them is the theming. Only the Mansions have elevators, so there can be handicapped units on the second floor there.

The 2 resorts share buses and also share a wheelchair accessible boat that travels to/from Downtown Disney. Staying at one, you can also use the pool and other facilities at the other since they are 'sister' resorts.

Thank you Sue, you have eased my mind. POFQ is my first choice, since the map in my Passporter looks like it is smaller. We have visited POR and had lunch at the food court, but I couldn't really tell much else about it, since we didn't wander around.

Now if I could only get my issue with AAA straightened out :headache:

Suzanne-I'm glad you at least have time to plan- either choice will be a good one as those resorts are beautiful. As Sue mentioned, POFQ is smaller. If you do end up at POR, request a room near the food court. I've had a fully accessible room several times in Alligator Bayou that is right across a short walkway to the side entrance of the food court. It was convenient and right by a really pretty lake. This way we were at the first bus stop too. I'm not sure what's going on with your t/a but I hope it gets settled so you can relax and start planning your trip!---Kathy

Thanks for the additional info Kathy. At this point, I am still waiting for the TA to straighten out my info.

Sue mentioned that some of the accessible rooms have 2 double beds, are they low like the king bed we had at Pop in the accessible room or like the regular double beds at Pop? Can I request a low bed? Pop was the first time we got the fully accessible room with mom (DH and I were in one at WL last year, I guess because there was only 2 of us, I only request fully accessible for mom).

Not having stayed at a moderate before, I am so confused. I really do want POFQ, I love the pictures I have seen, but wouldn't be too upset at POR either. I am just trying to make life easier for everybody and being on the ground floor at Pop with the additional room was great, but mom doesn't want to stay Value this time.

Yes, the beds are low like the ones at Pop so at least you won't have to worry about a special request for that. I know what you mean too. We had a king bed in a fully accessible one bedroom villa at AKLV recently. If my chair didn't have an elevating seat then I'd have had to figure out how to pole vault into that bed!! I mentioned that too when I had the room designer visit so that I could point out everything in the room that wasn't acceptable or even dangerous for a person in a w/c. Another thing to share in case it's important for your family. POR has both a TS restaurant ( Boatwrights) and a food court while POFQ has only the food court.---Kathy
