I don't believe I've ever posted these photos of POFQ from our spring break trip. Recently, I've noticed a lot of mixed reviews for both POFQ and POR. Our stay at POFQ couldn't have been any nicer. The room was very clean, check-in was great, housekeeping was excellent, foodcourt was spotless, food very good, lifeguards friendly, etc. My only complaint was with transportation -- both buses and boats. Buses for the parks originated at POFQ, so we almost always were guaranteed of getting on a bus. However, we were packed-in like sardines. Returning from the parks, there were extremely long lines and waits -- the only resort I noticed experiencing this. (I noted this again during our just completed 9-day stay at POR.) Boats to DTD originated at POR, so we had to wait for a couple of boats to pass us by before one wasn't completely full. There were long lines for the boat back, so we ended up taking a bus. It was still crowded, but the wait wasn't as long.
As I've posted about our stay at POR last week, we had a wonderful time. This resort was blissfully quiet (after a one night stay at a tour group packed Sports). We loved having the trundle bed for our younger ds. The kids absolutely LOVED the AB theming. However, POR did not seem as nice as POFQ. We found the food court to be dirty, food so-so, CM not particularly friendly, life guards truly unfriendly (You should have heard some of the nicknames other guests had made-up for the life guards!!! Definitely not Disney-friendly!) Room had some serious dust under the bed and small amount of mildew and soap scum in the shower area. Carpet was VERY worn. Walls had lots of marks on them. Grounds were NOT kept as nicely. I know things are supposed to be more wild and overgrown in the AB section, but I don't think the empty plastic soda bottle was supposed to stay in the little pond next to our building for the duration of our stay!
I will be the first to admit that the timing of our trip had a LOT to do with my perception of the two resorts. In spring, the weather was sunny and pleasant every day. The flowers were blooming, and we left behind gray winter weather at home. During our July stay at POR, the weather was hot and extremely humid. The parks were crowded with tour groups; and guests, in general, seemed more agressive and rude.
We will return to both POR and POFQ in the future. The negatives that I mentioned could be experienced anywhere. There were far more positives than not!
