POFQ or Value Resort: Difference if driving?

My DH and I are trying to decide which resort - $ is of course important.

For those of you who have both driven and flown and stayed at value resort: Does it make a difference if you have your own transportation? I hate waiting for buses and the vast hugeness of the value resorts scares me a little but the cost is so nice - so I wondered if my own transportation instead of buses makes that much of a difference.

POFQ appeals to me due to its small size. I have not stayed at either resort - we would probably pick the sports value resort (my DH is a basketball coach)....

any thoughts anyone?....thanks!

We just got back from staying at the all-star music in a family suite. The buses weren't that bad, but I did enjoy having our own car. That way we could drive to off property restaurants if we wanted and the grocery store, etc.

I think it does make a difference if you have a preferred room at the resort though because you would be in a better location and have a short walk to the lobby and the bus stops.

Have fun!

Ive never stayed value and never will because I've seen the lines, and 2 or 3 of those massive lines would annoy me. I am too far away to drive and dont like renting the entire time. So, it'd make a big diff for me if I could drive, I may consider it.

PoFQ is so attractively themed though, its just so nice. Tough choice.

We prefer to drive to WDW, then use our own transportation. I have a hidden disability - the buses from the resorts are impossible for me when I am forced to stand. Some of the drivers actually get angry when we've told them that we prefer to wait for the next bus.

The values do seem to have longer lines for buses than the mods. We choose both value & mod - depending on the type of vacation we want. If we're looking for relaxation as well as parks, we choose a mod. If we're going to be in the parks more than in the resort, we choose a value.

I think a car is almost a must-have because I like to do meals here and there and everywhere. It is impossible to resort-hop using busses; it will take you an hour to get anywhere. And I hate busses. But honestly, if you're just going from your hotel to one of the parks, the bus is often a better option than the car, because of the parking situation at the parks.

I've stayed at values and at French Quarter and almost always drive to the parks (never to Magic Kingdom - always take the bus there).

I've never really considered the values to be "vast and huge".

The values have queues to help with the bus situation.

French Quarter shares buses with Riverside although French Quarter is the first stop for pick up and let off.

If you drive to the parks, you will have to use the trams to get to the front of the park unless you want to walk it (which sometimes is not a great idea if you'll be walking around the cars still entering the lot).

Just pointing out different things I think about when deciding on buses versus driving.
