Currently booked at POFQ. Stayed there in February and loved everything about the resort. With the Disney + offer, I could moved to SSR for the same price. We are two adults on a sister’s trip. Plan to have down time at the resort each day. Sister doesn’t know if she can stay up to go to the extra hours for deluxe resorts. Should we switch? What are the pools like?

For the price, SSR is definitely worth a try. We stayed there a couple of years ago and are going back in a few months. And we love POFQ, also.

The big plus to SSR is that the restaurants, bars, and shopping of Disney Springs are within walking distance! We like POFQ just fine, especially as it's a small resort, but there is no restaurant on site (although there is Scat Cat's if you want to spend time in the lounge). Haven't experienced the pools at either.

For the same price, I would choose SSR. You may not know if you plan to utilize the extra amenities available, such as the extra evening hours, but in my opinion it’s better to have the option to use them if you are in the mood. It’s much better than getting there and wishing you had the option available but you don’t. Plus you will have a kitchen/kitchenette that you wouldn’t have at POFQ, which is great if you plan to spend time at your resort (or even just for having breakfast items in the room to save time).

I love POFQ but for the same price I would stay at SSR. I have never been lucky enough to get a deluxe for a moderate price.

I'm pretty sure the studios at SSR have one queen bed and one pull-down bed. You and your sister should take a look at the pictures of this before deciding. POFQ has two queen-size beds.

I personally would not want to sleep in the pull-down but perhaps that's not a big deal to you and your sister.

I was concerned about the pull down bed. It doesn’t look to be the same as they put in the value resorts. Mattress looks much thinner and the description says full size not queen. My sister and I will not be sharing a bed!!

I've never had to sleep on one, so I can't say from experience, but that does not look comfy to me. Hopefully someone who has slept on one of these will chime in.

POFQ is wonderful. You will enjoy it there--and there's a boat to DS, although FQ is not as close to DS as SSR is. But the boat ride's quite nice and if there's no boat, the bus ride is maybe 8 or 10 minutes long.

I've slept in the Murphy bed and they are perfectly fine! I am going to be the one to disagree. Unless you plan to take advantage of the MK extra hours (Epcot extra evening hours is pretty weak), then stay at POFQ. It's a much smaller resort, SSR is HUGE and very spread out, you will either have to take a bus or a make a long walk to the main area (I am thinking for the same price, the room at SSR is a standard studio, which means not always so close to everything). There is only one pool at FQ (it's great but can be busy), but you can walk over to Riverside and use their pools, there are some lovely and very quiet quiet pools in the mansion section, I highly recommend. I also like the QS options there better, plus the entertainment at Scat Cats (and beignets). If you want TS, it's a short walk to Riverside. Another plus of FQ is the one bus stop, you get on and go to the park. No stopping at other stops before leaving the resort property. FQ is my vote. Plus it's just prettier, overall!

Highly recommend SSR. Have stayed there twice with my adult daughters and we loved the resort. Lots of pools and hot tubs, beautiful and spacious rooms, proximity to Disney Springs.

Since it appears the extra magic hours are moving to AK in July, we have decided to stay at POFQ. I absolutely loved our stay there in February.

Look on the DVC boards for more info on SSR.
Stayed there last year and other times we own DVV for over 20 years.
The pulldown is a queen and hard to tell the difference between that and the permanent bed… it is a full thickness mattress. If it is standard request Grand stand or Paddock both are close to Carriage house depending on where 1/4 mile give or take so a 5-7 minute walk.
Paddock is the middle bus stop so you never feel like you are on the bus long it has its own pool with a slide, food bar and soda, coffee. The paddock pool and bus stop even at the furthest buildings is a very short walk…. Least walking I have ever done at any Disney resort. Grand stand - never stayed at But did stay in preferred and was at springs… is also an easy walk to the main building same as above or less has its own pool with the 24 hour drink station also first bus stop. Both are easy to get to the main pool although there is not a huge need at either section. Walking to DS will be around 10-12 minutes. There is a bus to DS or a boat. Boat is from Carriage house. The rooms all have balconies Paddock has woods lake and pool. Grand stand you may overlook a golf course. I personally would jump on the upgrade the rooms are nicer and set up more like a hotel not the motel style of PO rooms. I did stay at POR before DVC and enjoyed the resort but SSR offers far more including a good CS - PO and all moderated resorts are better in that respect but SSR is easily the best at a Deluxe with GF a close second….
As I mentioned above you can find a lot more on the DVC boards many SSR lovers and a few haters. Stayed at them all and there is really 0 to dislike.. Be careful of those who post reviews that never actually stayed there and that is for every resort….. Through the years I have seen those who put SSR down with large spread out…. Stayed there and loved it….. All Disney resorts are big….
