POFQ or POP

i have POFQ booked on a bounce back for Sept 30-Oct 5. It was a good deal, but I was looking online tonight and realized with just the late summer room discount I could save about $300 staying at POP. The room at FQ is a river view so it was a little more expensive. It is just me and my boyfriend. We are both late 20's. I am considering calling and swapping my reservation. We will pretty much be in he parks or at food and wine most of the time. I only have one pool afternoon planned. The only value I have stayed at was all star movies almost 10 years ago. I have since only stayed at moderates. Will I be disappointed? I'm hoping with the saved money I can convince my bf to go to MNSSHP. I've always wanted to go! I'm trying to convince myself I will like staying in a value! Thanks in advance for your input!

I also meant to mention that my stays at moderates were at POR (I loved!) and CSR (I liked our room and location but didn't care for the theme or the food).

Like you said, you will be at the parks most of the time. My sister had a river view room at POFQ last year when we went, but she was never really there to sit around and take in the view. My wife and I had a garden view. We were on the go everyday. $300 is something to surely consider. You may be disappointed, especially at first but once you get out and about you may be happy with your choice. See what others have to post and say about it then go with your gut feelings about it. We went to MNSSHP last year and had a good time. Good luck

Thanks for the feedback. The only reason I reserved a river view was because that was all that was available on the bounce back. I usually just go for a standard view or garden view.

I am thinking of just going ahead and swapping. $300 will let us enjoy a lot of food and wine! My main complaint when I stayed in a value before was being cramped, but we had 4 adults in our room and this time there will only be 2 of us. My boyfriend will be happy with a room facing the lake!

POFQ is our favourite resort by far, but in your case, I would switch to POP and buy MNSSHP tickets! POP is great. If you are not planning in being at the resort a lot, then definitely save the $300 and use it for another experience.
Have fun!

I love POFQ and I love the 50's section of POP -

The only major difference with the room is the beds - POP has a double and POFQ has a queen. If bed size isn't a problem I would switch and save the money - MNSSHP is so much fun

I canceled my POFQ BB river view room as well. My mom was originally going to be along and while I did not want a RV (only thing available on BB) it was a mod she hadn't stayed at and from a few past stays I knew she would love POFQ.

But when it became a solo trip I knew that I would switch to a value. POP is the only one I haven't stayed at, and honestly it's because it's the least appealing to me. However it gets really good reviews and since I too will be mostly at the parks or F&W I decided that paying less (even with the FD package I booked so I'm paying rack rate) and trying a new resort was the better choice for me.

Oh and I used part of my savings to buy a ticket to MNSSHP. I've never been to a party so I figure it will be a new experience and that always makes a trip a little more fun.

do it!!! love POR too - but also really love Pop. It is very different from the all stars - love the 50's Tramp building 3 - and best yea - the lake view is standard!!!! the pool views are preferred.

you could swim in their quiet pools 24 hours - don't know if that is still allowed since the accident.

I would definitely switch to POP and go to MNSSHP. We love POP and have had some really pretty views from our top floor rooms of the lake.

I would switch and go to MNSSHP. For my upcoming trip I originally booked AKL because I got a offer code, but then downgraded to POFQ to save money and to go to MVMCP.

My son and I tried Pop last summer and looooooooved it. We had previously only stayed at deluxe hotels and I was a bit skeptical on how much I would enjoy it, but it was a quick trip before heading to Universal and the deal was just too good not to try. We had a 50's room facing the lake and liked it very much.

A few things that helped: There were only two of us in the room, we had our own car so didn't have to rely on buses unless we chose to, knew what to expect going into it (I think sometimes people try to make it more than it is and are disappointed), and ate in the food court at off times because it could get crazy.

POFQ is one of my favorite resorts. We stayed at Pop last year and really enjoyed it. If you aren't going to be in the room much and can save $300 and go to the party, I say do it.

I have stayed at POP 5 times and will be at POFQ for the 5th time in Nov. I love them both. Which one I stay at depends on the budget for each trip. OP, I would not hesitate to switch to POP in order to be able to go to MNSSHP.

Thanks for all the info! I just swapped to POP! They had a room only discount for the time we are going, so it was a good deal. Now to convince DBF to go to the Halloween party!
