POFQ or Poly - help me decide!

So I booked a BB for Nov 2010  At the time I priced out POFQ and Contemporary (we spend most of our time at MK so wanted to try being closer). The price difference didn't seem worth it because all they had were Club rooms at the CR. Now that I am home, I have been looking at the Poly and the price with my BB offer is better than the CR and it's for a lagoon view, but still way more than POFQ.

We just stayed at AKL, and I could definitely tell the difference between a Mod and a Deluxe, but we were also comfortable at POFQ - and found we weren't at the hotel enough to enjoy any other amenities anyways.

Sway me one way or the other! Thanks DISers :goodvibes

I don't think that you can book a bounce back once you leave WDW. It used to be that way but it might have changed. Don't cancel anything until someone here chimes in with more information.

You can change existing reservations that were booked prior to checkout, but you can't book anything new after you leave.

We used to stay at the MK deluxe hotels until this past spring when we couldn't swing the cost. Got a tip to try POFQ based on its size, theming, and bus service. IMO, the bus service was FAR superior to any we've had at all 4 MK hotels. Like you, we don't stay at the hotel enough to enjoy the amenities (kids 3 & 9), so we don't stay at the deluxes any longer unless it's just my wife and I on our weekend anniversary trip.

I've seen where most people are going to tell you it's worth the difference in cost to stay at the Poly, but that's something only you can ultimately decide. If you already know you aren't going to get much use out of the amenities, then it's probably not worth it to you. We use our room to sleep and shower in, the biggest reason that we used to do the deluxes was proximity to MK, but the kids now enjoy EPCOT just as much if not more, so we end up sending less time at MK than at the other 3 parks, and as I stated, we were terribly disappointed in the bus service at the deluxes.

I thought you could modify a BB just not make a new one. If you can modify and are looking at CR or Poly with all things equal but Poly being that much less I would switch. If CR was a MK view tower room CL I would stay with CR.

Thank-you for the information. OP, you were right to ask here, DISsers are very well informed.

No worries. I did this with a BB I booked last May, that's the only reason I was able to answer.

Thanks - I have already called with questions about changing my booking, and it seemed to be no issue.

Thanks for the info about the MK resort busing - I was focused only on being close to MK and wasn't thinking of the other parks, but we really had no complaints with the busing at POFQ. We are early risers and always caught one of the first buses out to the parks without any added stops at POR.

One more question - we have never added on the water parks because my kids are young enough to get their fill of the hotel pool. Is the "volcano pool" at the Poly as cool as it sounds (thinking of a 4 and 7 year old)? Perhaps another option is to do POFQ with the Water Park add on for something new.

To be honest, it was slightly better than the pool at POFQ in my opinion, but I really don't think kids that age would necessarily think so. My kids liked both, but they probably thought the "dragon" slide (yeah, I know it's a sea serpent :) ) was better.

I have a feeling that you'll still come out ahead monetarily going to a water park for a day - I think the add-on option is more expensive than a single day ticket, so be sure that you're going to do more than one day at one of them before adding it on. Otherwise you're better off just buying the ticket seperately.

BTW - we had the same experience with the busing at POFQ. If you're there early in the morning and later in the evening, you never have to worry with any other resort (at least we didn't). The buses at the MK resorts always share - WL and GF, Poly and Contemp.
