POFQ or CS

I have the reservations already made for October 2006. I made them at POFQ, but now I am thinking of switching to CS. :confused3 I have DS 8 and DD 5 and of course DH. My concern is the size of CS. My other concern is that POFQ is not really for my active children.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I prefer the POFQ to the CSR. I think the size is a lot more managable. I would think that the your kids would love the sea serpent pool. It's bright, colorful, cheery, and whimsical.

The CSR is a beautiful resort, but there are two reasons why I choose not to stay there again. Number one, I don't like the way the food court is set up there--while the food was fine and better than most of the other food courts, I don't like that they take on a 10% service fee on this. Number two, I found the walls to be very thin (as I find with all Disney Resorts that were built after 1996). I could hear the footsteps of my neighbor above me (and they weren't even jumping or anything), and the voices of my neighbors on either side talking at normal volumes.

I have never stayed at cs, but pofq is our favorite moderate of all the others.
The pool is great, it is smaller than the rest and just felt like the most personal. It is disney so you can't go wrong either way, but I have not heard
alot of great things about cs, so we never tried it.

CSR...bus service at POFQ leaves a lot to be desired, especially if traveling with little ones.

I agree!!! And POFQ has no amenities. You still will have to walk over to POR to use the marina or sit down restaurant. That's why I always laugh when others talk about how small POFQ is. Yes, it may be small but if you include the walking over to POR, the lack of amenities and the bus service, CSR wins hands down!! :thumbsup2

CSR is a large resort that doesn't share services with other resorts and offers some deluxe amenities because it's a convention resort.

CSR offers a salon, spa, workout facility, full menu room service, a courtesy coach to assist in getting to and from the main building, and is the only moderate to offer suites.

If you're on the dining plan, you won't find a better CS spot than the Pepper Market. Huge portions, great choices and tasty food. Lunch/Dinner Menu

CSR is situated around a 15 acre lake and CBR is situated around a 45 acre lake. Great place for a romantic walk romantic walk around the Lago Dorado, across the lighted bridge to the hammocks on the white sandy beach.

CSR has terrific transportation. It doesn't share with any other resort (like POR / POFQ) and it only has 4 bus stops within the resort (vs 7 at CBR). And since CSR is centrally located, you'll have a quick ride to all the parks.

And being a convention resort, the buses seem less crowded because guests are busy with their conventions.

CSR is the most central to the 3 parks. See the map below.

CSR has the best pool of the mods and probably the second best on WDW property.

Best mod pool. It offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, and a playground at the main pool area.

Review from mousesavers.com!!

Coronado Springs is my Best Value choice in the Moderate category. It has several advantages compared with the other Moderate resorts. It is newer, so there has been less wear-and-tear on everything. Also, Coronado Springs is a convention hotel, so it has a few extra amenities not offered at the other Moderates, including a salon, a health club and a more upscale food court.

The theming is radically different in the three areas of Coronado Springs. You can request a specific area when booking but there is no guarantee you'll get your request.

  • The Spanish-style Casitas at Coronado Springs are very peaceful, with courtyards featuring tiled fountains. Casitas Buildings 1, 3 and 2 (in that order) are the closest to the restaurants and services. Casitas Building 4 contains the salon and health club, if those are important to you.
  • The Cabanas at Coronado Springs have a beachy Caribbean feeling. Cabanas Building 8A is very close to the feature pool, which may be a blessing (convenience) or a curse (noise, light). Cabanas Building 9B is closest to the marina and relatively convenient to the restaurants and services.
  • The Ranchos at Coronado Springs feel quiet and secluded -- some would say isolated -- and feature desert landscaping and pueblo-style architecture. They look closest to the main pool on a map, but in actuality they are separated from the rest of the property by a swamp, so it can be a fairly long walk from these buildings to the pool, and a very long walk to the restaurants.

I would only choose POFQ if i had kids under 5 it has a great SMALL playground for younger kids and teh pool slide is perfect for kids new to sliding.. If you are worried about Coronado Springs them I suggest port oreans RIVERSIDE it has the extra trundle bed plus the ole man island is great for kids 5-12 it has a really nice fort type playground the pool slide is a great one,,,, and their is lots of stuff to do.. fishing, etc... Although I would not hesitate to stay at Coronado springs again my kids had a blast.,.

Yes POFQ is small and NOT A LARGE RESORT like CSR. You will find everyone on this site has their favorites. We love POFQ for the smallness in that you can walk everywhere in less than 5 to 10 minutes, the Boat to DTD is good and you can ride it as well over to POR. The Serpent Pool is wonderful and much fun for children of all ages. The food court is great and the beignets are wonderful. The bus services is not as bad as other would have you believe. Yes you share with POR, but you are first on and first off. The ride to the furthest park was never more the 10 to 15 min. As with any resort if you miss the bus the4re is a short wait for another to arrive, never more than a few minutes to 10. During busy times at many of the parks you will find that there is a separate bus to come back to POFQ only. We found this in Feb and Sept as well. We are never eating a lot at the resort anyway so the FQ did not bother us, as we ate there for breakfast most of the time and an occassional lunch. The ride to POR was nice the time we went to eat at Boatwrights and the food there was good. I look at it as an advantage that POFQ and POR as Sister resorts as that gives you two pools to use and the other amenities. Plus POFQ was just refurbished a year ago and rooms are wonderful. The grounds are plus and many many times we saw rabbits in the garden area. I don't want to have to walk a long time to get to our room after being in the parks all day, so this fits our needs. We had a large group of 6 last Sept. from age 4 through 70, including 22 year old and all loved the resort. The mousekeeping is wonderful and the CM's were always great.

As I'm staying there in November with my 6 year old and 3 year old, could you please elaborate? What about another resort's bus service is better?

For my family and me this makes no difference. We stayed at CBR (which we LOVED) and we never used the sit-down restaurant OR the marina there. We just have no need for waitresses and watercraft, so POFQ seems fine for OUR needs.

To say POFQ has "no amenities" is just untrue. An ultra-themed pool with a slide? A food court? A playground? Amenities? Ya think??? We all want opinions, but facts rather than hyperbole would be nice, too.

Having stayed at both, we much prefer POFQ. CSR was too spread out for my taste. We travelled most recently with a 2 year old and didn't have a problem with the buses. Sure, it was a pain to stop at POR but no different than stopping at all the CSR stops. We only had to stand once, and that was one morning when we left for MK right at 9 a.m. We didn't always stop at POR, either. The pool was nice, and it was easy to keep an eye on everyone. The food court was good, and we loved the boat to DTD and the pleasant walk to POR. We will definitely stay at POFQ again.

The big difference is the buses at CSR are never as crowded as the buses at POFQ. There was times we had to wait for a second bus to come because with all the people in the queue, the first bus didn't fit everyone.

CSR hands down!! :thumbsup2
