hello everyone.

I am overwhelmed on choosing between these two resorts. POFQ or CBR

We went to WDW for our first time (Dec. 2011) and stayed at POFQ. We loved it. It looked so beautiful in Christmas time. We thought it was the perfect place and always thought when we returned, it would be a no brainer on where we stay.

If all goes well, we may be going back in a few months (August) and I was thinking CBR would be perfect for the summer.

However, I keep going back and forth. Since we are going in the summer and not Christmas time, we will be doing things different this time. last year, we were on the Deluxe Dining Plan and never went back for breaks. In August, we are paying for food OOP and will be going back to resort for afternoon breaks (swimming and/or resting). So this time, we will be utilizing the pool and food court.

Since we will be utilizing the pool and food court, I am concerned of the extra walking staying at CBR, especially for our daughter. I think for us to be comfortable, we would have to pay for a preferred room in Martinque. If we decide on POFQ, then we would not have to pay the extra money. But, will POFQ be fun in the summer.

So, if anyone has any insight on either these two resorts, the good and the bad, please tell me. Also, if this was your vacation scenerio, where would you stay and why.

Thanks so much!

Well I have stayed at CBR a few years ago and i am trying POFQ this June. I like to try new resorts. We did love CBR. I know we were upgraded to a preferred room so that def. helped. It is a very big resort and I'd rather save my walking for the park. I think the only drawback for my family would be that the beds are only double. I would have no prob. staying at CBR again but like I said I prefer to try something new.

I think you will love CBR for that Caribbean feel. We have stayed @ this resort a few times before and enjoy the Caribbean music, landscaping, beaches, and the main pool area is awesome. Our dd ( 4yrs) loves the pirate ship kiddie pool area. The food court was a average food court( pizza, bugers, chicken nuggets, salads and sandwiches). The gift shop is really nice. You can get a preffered room, but I really dont think the walk is that bad, we did it last yr from the futherst Island of Trinadad South with our 3 yr old dd and I was pregnant. It was about a 6 minute walk from there, but its so nice to look @ all the landscaping you dont even realize your walking long. :thumbsup2

Me personally i like uhm imean (Love) CSR. But what I would recommend trying is POR. Almozt same feel as POFQ but more options. Better food court. Better feature pool and also a few quiet pools. Royal rooms upgraded and very nice. Grounds are beautiful. And i cant forget yeehaw bobs in the lounge. Awesome entertainment .

<~~~~~me personally, just not a big fan of cbr. Its nice, but just not for me on a Disney trip that's all.

We agree. We have stayed at all the mode and I now will only stay at POR or POFQ.

The boat to dtd is such a perk. We love old man island too.

Thanks everyone!! Hmm, never thought of POR. Now off to research and see if I can throw that one in the mix :-) It is so hard for me to make a decision.. I am afraid of screwing up!

Remember its Disney, no matter what you're going to have a good time. You can't screw that up, that's impossible.

Having stayed at POR and CBR, our family prefers CBR. Now as PP stated, you can't go "wrong" with any of the choices you are considering.

We are partial to CBR because we like the Caribbean feel. When you are taking a break from the parks, it really does feel like you are on a tropical vacation so we really feel like we get recharged.

It has a very laid back feel to it and you never feel like you are right on top of others, even when it's at capacity.

This is just my opinion, but I feel CBR gets an unfair bad rap because of it's size. I spent many a morning walking the entire path around the lake. I can say that other than Trinidad South, most of the non-preferred locations have about a 5 minute walk to OPR and the Main pool. And the grounds are so beautiful that it doesn't even feel that long. But again, the spread out nature is one of the things we like about it.

Again, you can't go wrong with any of your choices and WDW truly has something for everyone's taste. Our favorite taste just happens to be CBR. Have fun choosing! :thumbsup2

I stayed at POFQ in October and just returned from CBR yesterday.

The resorts have a completely different feel.

POFQ is very quaint. Love the cobblestone streets and how compact it is. The boat ride to DTD was great, however, the wait was a bit long and we went during a "slow" time. The food court was ok and the pool was ok.

CBR is HUGE. We could not get a preferred room, and instead stayed in Aruba 52.... about a 5 leisure walk across the bridge. We almost felt like we had the resort to ourselves even during spring break time because it is spread out. LOVED the pool and the sandy beaches on the lake. The food court also had a lot to offer. We never had any trouble with busses.... something that I see alot of people complain about. Next time, I will be sure to book a preferred room, however.

Honestly, I would return to either of these resorts.

I'm not sure if you mentioned your daughter's age, but CBR has a MUCH better pool area than POFQ. POR is nice and we have stayed there a couple of times, but if you are comparing the pools, CBR has a better pool than POR. I would probably go with either CBR or POR. I liked walking around POFQ, but my kids would have been bored with the POFQ pool in a hot second. :goodvibes Really, no matter what, you will be fine!

i've stayed at both resorts. Would stay at both again, but prefer CBR.

Resort is much bigger, but I liked the tropical feel to it. We were in Aruba and it wasn't a long walk over the bridge to the main area or to the aruba bus stop. Pool looked like a lot of fun for kids. More food options at the food court than POFQ.
Also since neither resort has balconies, i liked the quiet pool area at CBR for relaxing with a book, without having to walk too far or deal with the loud main pool area.

i think no matter what resort nor how close your room is to the bus stop, the walk home at the end of the evening from the bus stop feels long and is tiring.
