Hi ... We're booked at POFQ next March 11-18. We like the looks of this resort not to mention the smaller size, proximity to POR and boat to DD. However, does anyone who has stayed there think this resort might be a little too quiet (and the pool too kiddie-looking) for our 14 and 16-year olds to enjoy?

To be honest, my teens did not enjoy POFQ that much. (Age 16 & 17 yo boys). They like All-Star Sports better with the larger video arcade and the football playing field where they met lots of other kids their age. This was May 04 for my oldest graduation trip.

However, they did like the quick boat to Downtown Disney and Disney Quest.

We normally stay at values, but splurged because there was a great Passholder rate of $79 + tax for the moderates. We had always wanted to try the moderates, but always needed more than one room because of extra family. This trip was just the 4 of us, so we decided to try it.

Me and hubby, however, absolutely ADORED the resort. The hot tub was out of the this world. The pool bar was a great place to hang out, and I LOVED the small size and the French Quarter atmosphere. This is actually the only moderate I will consider because it has the two features of values that I feel are essential. One bus stop, and a food court on the way to the bus stop where we can pick up a bagel and some fruit on the way out the door in the morning.

If it's important to them, the pool is baby-ish, small slide with a dragon head.

I think there are better resorts for teens. Have you looked into CSR?

We have stayed at both POR and POFQ. We love the size of POFQ however, we ran into the same concerns that you are having. For that reason we have been chosing to stay at POR.

The size of the resort is bigger. However, if you choose the right building, you won't be too far away from dining, bus and boat. Pool is more attractive to the teen crowd then it is at POFQ. You can still enjoy the boat ride to DTD. They offer fishing at the fishing hole. There is a night time show offered in the lounge (all kids are welcome).

My teens favorite moderate is CSR. I would also take them back to POR too. They were not even interested in the pool at POFQ (we went to visit when at POR to decide for future trip) when they were pre-teen. They said it was for the 9 and under set. I think it's a great resort for those without kids or very young kids, very quiet. Ours prefer alittle bit of energy....I would try POR or CSR. At both they would have fun and could be independent.

Gotta agree with the other posters here...my 18 YO daughter and 15 YO son were very unimpressed with POFQ, especially the pool on our recent visit. Like the others said, the pool is definetly more "little kid" themed. In hindsight, I'd have chosen one of the other mods over POFQ just for that reason alone. However, if I ever get back to WDW again with just Mrs. GG and myself, we'll stay at POFQ in a heartbeat! She and I loved it!

I would say if they plan on using the pool a lot, then not the best choice. I thought POFQ could use POR pools?? Not as convenient though. I do love the access to DTD by boat.

You can use all pools at both resorts when you stay at POR or POFQ. My son 22 liked the Pool at POFQ and he enjoyed the one at POR TOO> So if you want a smaller resort stay at POFQ as it has only 1 bus stop, yes it shares with POR but you are First on and first off. Go to POR when you want to use the other pools. Sometimes a nice quiet pool at the end of a long day in the parks is even good for teens. For a day at the pool walk over to POR or ride the boat. You cannot go wrong either way with these 2 Sister Resorts. :flower:

Thanks to all who replied. We're gonna stick with POFQ. We've stayed at POR (and CSR) previously, and even though we all loved POR, we didn't like how crowded the main pool was, and then having already full buses pass us by. The beauty and compactness of POFQ appeals to all of us, as well as the first bus pick-up. I think their pool is gorgeous, even with the kiddie-ish serpent slide. My 16-year old said about the pool, as long as it has water in it, he's fine with it! So POFQ here we come ...

You are always welcome to pool hop to POR. Just take the boat to POR. And while there, they might want to go biking or rent a boat. I think your teenagers will enjoy POFQ and will appreciate the smallness of the resort (not a lot of walking to anywhere) and you'll be picked up/dropped off first. I think your family will enjoy this resort. Have fun! :flower:
