Hubby and I just returned home today from our first trip to Port Orleans French Quarter.

This was hubby's first trip back to Disney World in about 20 years so you can imagine how much has changed since he was there last. And since he'd never stayed on-site during all those early trips, this was a new experience for him.

My first trip was back in June of 2001 with my sisters, and since my brother-in-law is in the military, we stayed at Shades of Green. And my only other visits to Disney since were all day trips.

I'm not sure when I'll really have time to delve into the details of our trip, but I know I have some tips for everyone - regardless of which resort you'll be calling home.

I just wanted to stop by to say that we had a great time and we've already started talking about possibly taking another trip in late 2007. We'll see!

One negative from our trip though...on the return flight home today, I lost my Chef Mickey. :sad1: While shopping at DTD earlier in the week, we spotted a Chef Mickey at the $10 and under store. Since I love to cook and I'm a Pampered Chef consultant, hubby thought it would be perfect for me. So we bought it. We had it in the WDW bag that we carried on the flight along with the Pirates of the Carribean Pooh, and when we got home, Mickey was missing. I've called the airline - 3 times. First I was redirected to call the local number. I called that one the first time and they told me to call back in an hour. I did and they told me that they'd call me back as soon as they had a chance to go down to where they keep the "lost and found" stuff. It's been over and hour - probably closer to 2 and still no word from them. I fear he's lost and I'll never be able to get another one. (It was the only Chef Mickey they had at the store and we never saw another one.) :sad1:

Since you're just back, maybe you can shed some light on a rumor that seems to resurface again and again.....did you see ANYTHING that would indicate POTC pirate: going into rehab in 2006, specifically over the summer months? Please respond asap.....thanks!! :smooth: :woohoo:  :cool1:

Well...they were doing some work while we were there. It looked like part or all of building 5 was shut down while they did some refurbishing. I hadn't heard that rumor, or I probably would have inquired while we were there.

So sorry you lost your Chef Mickey.

But glad you enjoyed your trip!

We're both so very sad that we lost him. And I called the airline again yesterday. Finally got someone who was helpful enough to actually go look to see if there was anything in lost and found. He wasn't there. Wish I could find another one.

Now for a little more of our trip report.

We flew in early Sunday morning and arrived at MCO around 9:30am. The flight was not very enjoyable. We'd gotten almost no sleep the night before so we were hoping to sleep on the plane. No such luck. Just as I started to fall asleep, the 10 year old kid behind me decided to play the drums on the tray. I asked him to stop as it was causing my entire seat to bounce so then he decided to kick the seat. The sister told him to stop once, but of course he didn't listen and the parents sitting across the aisle were no help since they weren't paying attention. Enough about them.

We rented a car from Alamo. I've never had a problem with them before and no significant problems now, but I will be disputing a fuel charge with them. Anyway, at the counter, of course the woman tries to sell me every insurance policy known to man and then when I insist that I have full coverage at home which will cover the rental she tells me that should we get into an accident, regardless of fault, I'd be responsible for the cost of their brand new vehicle and that my insurance would probably only cover up to the value of my car. Thanks, but I still don't want your insurance. Finally we get out of there. (For anyone renting fomr Alamo, you go out across to the parking area and basically pick a car in the category for which you're renting. We were renting an SUV so we just went to the SUV line and got to pick whatever color and style we wanted.)

We hit the road and headed for POFQ. We arrived around 11:00am and were happily told that our room was ready and we could go right there. EXCELLENT! We went to the room, unpacked and then headed to Epcot world showcase where we grabbed some lunch in England. Fish and chips, of course. Very yummy!! We walked around for a little while just enjoying the sunshine and nice temps (it was in the 20's and sleeting when we left Providence that morning.)

We headed back to the resort because we were so tired and went down to the food court. Not to eat, but to get our refillable mugs. What a great deal!! $11.99 and we sure did get our money's worth. That's the only thing we bought at the food court so I can not tell you anything about the food.

Ok, time to get to work. I'll try to post more later.

Sounds fantastic ~ Thanx for sharing.
