POFQ - Handicapped Accessible?

Hi everyone,

We have 26 more days to go and my 7 yr old just broke his leg! He will be in a full leg cast and have to use a wheelchair the entire trip but we are determined to make this a magical time for him. My questions for all of you who have stayed at POFQ - do they have hadicapped accessible rooms and are the grounds ok for him to get around? Im so nervous for this to work out for him.. we have been planning this for a year and its his first visit. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks!

This is a perfect resort its small and compact and the buildings have lifts and there are accessible rooms available. Might be worth calling and having that noted on your ressie.

Overall its a lovely place with a wide street style layout which should be more than easy to negotiate with a wheel chair.

All disney buses are wheel chair friendly as well as are the boats to DTD. Most rides as well but some if he can he would have to transfer to the ride vehicle.

You actually may not want an accessible room. The biggest difference is that the bathrooms have a roll in shower with a small seat. There is no tub. I'm just thinking that it might be easier to bathe him if you have a tub than if you have a shower only. The disAbilities forum has lot of pictures so that might help you make a good decision about what will work best for your family's needs.

I agree.

They also tend to have just one bed, so that there is room for a wheelchair or ECV...might not be appropriate for you guys.

Just a note. POFQ HA rooms now have 2 queens in them as opposed to a single king. They did this with the renovations.
