POFQ CLOSING INFO THREADS-UPDATED & CLEANED UP!

I called today and I was told that they wouldn't have codes until next week now.

I couldn't stand the suspense any more, and called CRO to ask about changing our reservations. We had originally planned to be at POFQ from 5/16 - 5/24, and decided to change our plans. Of course, the day I called to change our reservations was the day they announced the closing! The agent I talked to that day said to wait for the call, but the more I waited, the more I fretted about having to change dates as well as hotels.

Long story short, I'm glad I called back. My call was transferred to the "French Quarter Relocation Group" and I was offered a stay at the Coronado Springs for my new dates with the same code rate I had for my originally-planned stay. Of course, CSR is one of our favorite resorts, but no code rates had been available when I made our original reservation.

I must say, though, that I definitely got the impression that not many people are excited at the options currently available. When the phone agent presented our choices, and I told him that we'd love to stay at CSR, he was audibly relieved -- I think he'd probably spent all day getting an earful! What a tough job that must be....

I see a pattern here. It is starting to sound like the same story as the AP rates that never came out. People were being told, tommorrow, then the next day, then the following week. Now for the upgrades, they told me Monday. They told other people this Thursday or Friday. Now next week. If I sound frustrated, it is because I am! Thanks for letting me vent.

My travel agent received the info about PO closing and instead of waiting for them to call, she called them. She was offered either CBR or Coronado and told that upgrades to deluxes should be out tomorrow. She was told to check back tomorrow regarding that.

She went ahead and booked me (after checking with me) at the CBR.

BTW, I will never use a travel agent again. I can't stand not being in control.

Hi everybody! I got my call today from the POFQ relocation team. Our trip isn't until August, but they called me sooner because I had called Saturday with questions about the relocation.

Long story short -- they had recorded my concerns on Saturday and the rep had that info ready when she called today. She was able to relocate me to the Wilderness Loge. That was the only non-moderate choice she had, but that was OK with me; I just wanted a room at one of the more compact resorts. I won't disclose the details of the rate I got, because I think what people are offered varies with availablity on certain dates. I will say that I am VERY satisfied. Good job Disney!!! :D

Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear -- I hope you all will be as happy as I am right now! :D

We were notified by TA today for our land/sea vacation (6/8-6/15) about POFQ. We were offered three choices
1. a switch to CBR or POR with no change in the rate OR
2. we could upgrade to WL or Swan/Dolphin for $10/night OR
3. we could upgrade to Poly or BC for $30/night.
We are traveling for our daughters HS graduation with all of my extended family, so we all decided to take the WL option and found out just a little while ago that it was all set.
I'm sure the reason we've heard so much earlier than others, is that we have the land/sea pkg. Our TA did say that this is what "Disney Cruise Line was offering us." She also mentioned that if our vacation was after Aug 1st than AKL would be our choice in place of WL.
I hope this helps. The TA said she had a feeling that WDW will offer the same upgrades as DCL, but not until all land/sea vacations were taken care of.

I agree with johnnyr. It does look like they are just stalling for some reason. I have my hunches what they are but I'll be nice and keep them to myself. We are leaving Ohio in 22 days so we're running out of time to get anything nice for our 3 rooms. My husband wants to call them this time so I think we'll do that friday or saturday and see what they say. I don't want to end up sleeping in the dumpsters. LoL Keep your fingers crossed everyone.

Thanks to everyone for all of the great info. I too am booked at POFQ and am waiting for "the call". I'll let everyone know once I hear something.

Boy, I am growing impatient! My vacation is 5/2 thru 9th and have not gotton my call yet.

I called last week and was told by Relocations that upgrades would be available to the people who were willing to wait for the call. People who insisted on accomodations immediately were not given any upgrades because they were not available in the system yet. I told her that I would wait until Monday.

I also sent a letter to their website.... No reply!

I just hate being on their schedule! I have two kids and love to plan things ahead.

I hope they stick to what they say and call on Monday or Tuesday!
I will keep everyone posted on the call!

Good Luck..

Hey has anyone gotten an email from them? I just signed on and found an email from the relocation group. They said to call them as soon as possible about getting moved to another resort that would suit our travel needs. I was kind of shocked to get it. Has this happened to anyone else? And does anyone know what their hours are? The same as CRO - 7am to 11pm?

I didn't get an email, but I did call. Got the same answers as everone else "upgrades to come soon - not in the system yet". When I called, they transferred me to a dept. that is handling FQ reservations. When the person answered, she introduced herseld as being from WDTC. Was very friendly, but wasn't able to do anything. I asked the hours, and she said 9:00AM to 9:00PM.

In a previous conversation with the "relocation team", I was told to call them on Friday AM because they hoped to have the upgrades in the system. I called and asked for the "special extension" number I was told and I got a recording saying due to the high volume of calls, I would not be transferred, but I have 15 seconds to leave my name and # and someone would contact me in the next 24-48 hours. Real nice, thank you Disney. I have been so discouraged by this. I only go to Disney everyy 5 years or so and this one is special because of my kids ages. I called back Disney and talked with a CM and asked what the difference would be in $$$$ if I shorten my stay from 7 days to 5 days, but left my airfare the same. I am saving $477.22. I am going to check into a hotel at USF/IOA and hopefully will be able to go there and give them my money.

Sorry, just had to vent. I know with all the troubles in the world, mine are so minor it is embarassing, but it still gets me. We all work hard for our $$$, just because Disney is magical, doesn't me we have to just accept what they give us.

Thanks all and good luck in your planning and relocating.

Good morning all! Hope today brings some answers to the questions we all have. :)

sandman8 (Rick)--i don't know what would be considered the most romantic section of CBR as I went there with my DH and DS so we were looking for a centrally located room. We stayed in Martinique 26 and were very happy with its proximity to both OPR, the main pool and 2 different bus stops. If you wanted something more "secluded" I'm not sure about that but maybe others here could help. Or if you post to the CBR FAQ thread I'm sure someone would answer with a better suggestion. Sorry I can't help too much with that.

BuckeyeBelle and tjosmith-I appreciate both of you posting about your results and it makes me a bit more hopeful about the possibility of a decent upgrade for a little more money.

DisneyFreaks-you are funny "sleeping in dumpsters". :) I'm sure it won't amount to that but they certainly are keeping us in suspense.

I agree with ktgalds--I really think they are trying to get as many as they can to switch to CBR or CSR and then assess the situation. I'm not saying that they are not working on getting the upgrade info into the computer but it seems that they know what the costs will be (someone was posting about the $10 WL and $30 other deluxes upgrades back on Saturday) so I think they want to see what most people are willing to do. Plus the fact that you figure even if the resort is half full that is 500 or so rooms that have ressies with a call to each. Even if every ressie is for a week that is 2000 calls to make for a month's worth of ressies and I'm sure they have even more to call than that. Hopefully the calls will be made soon though! :)

On another note, I don't know how much I'll be here over the next few days as I have been sick off and on since last Thursday night and will be headed to the docs today. They suspect something called pancreatitis and I have no idea what to expect as far as treatment. If I'm not around much and someone wants to PM me with any upgrade specific info (or if you hear that AP rates are out!) I'd really appreciate it! Hope everyone has a great day! :)

welovedis....I am so sorry to hear you are feeling ill. I have had pancreatitis and I know how badly you must feel. I will send good vibes your way. Please take care of yourself.

DISNEYLOVER70....I totally agree with you. When FQ closed before we called ourselves and changed over to CBR. No problem. We wanted to stay there again anyway and we had a wonderful time. When CBR closed we changed over to CSR. We didn't rock the boat and did as Disney suggested. However we didn't really want to go back to that resort and unfortunately circumstances caused us to have to move our trip anyway to May. And now we have this same problem again. I really don't think I could physically manage either of those huge resorts but I also feel like all Disney wants to give back to us is what we already paid. Is money the only language they know? Who compensates for the shattering of all our plans? The things we were looking forward to doing while at FQ? One of the previous posters talked about her children so looking forward to going down the serpents tongue water slide. My heart ached for them. I just don't think they are considering all we are losing here and it certainly is more than just having to do with money.
Sorry all, I guess it is just my turn to vent now.

sandman8....All of CBR is very romantic. We stayed both times in Aruba but I have always thought Jamaica looked very magical and romantic. You'll love it there.

Sandman8 - my husband and I spent our honeymoon at CBR. We stayed in Jamaica in bldg 46 and had a king room. The walk to Old Port Royale was about 7 minutes and we had to walk over their small island, Parrot Cay. That was romantic because it seemed a little secluded with piped in caribbean music.

I don't have anything really against CBR, just the size of the resort. I'm not happy about that with our 2 small children. For adults I think it is great.

Well, it's another day here on the POFQ relocation thread. Here's hoping that we get some good news today. I'm frustrated by the waiting (I just want to know where I'm going to be staying), but I'm going to hold out and see what happens.

I agree with everyone who is saying that Disney is holding off putting out the upgrade information so they can get as many people as possible to move to another moderate. A lot of people out there with reservations probably don't have the knowledge we have here on the Dis boards, and wouldn't even know that upgrades are an option. I'm sure Disney doesn't offer them unless people start complaining.

I wonder how many people actually get upgrades in this type of situation. I bet when Disney starts calling around, they tell people the resort is going to be closed, and try to sell them on another moderate. I bet most people just move to another moderate no questions asked. Heck, most people with ressies for the POFQ probably don't even know that it is closing.

So, here I am sending everyone good thoughts so this gets settled for all of us real soon.

Karen

You're exactly right, most people have no clue about this. I know that I was really shocked when I read it here. Naturally they will try to fill the other moderates - some would say that that is what they are doing anyways due to lower bookings. Close some resorts and thereby fill the others. Why would they continue to take bookings if this was a planned rehab - we were booked for December. I am hoping that AP rates will come out for BC as I have no interest in the other mods.

I think it is so sad that FQ is going dark again - wish we had stayed there last trip now...

Just got off the phone with "Relocation" The person I spoke with was very nice. She apologized <sp?> and said that they were told the rates would be out Friday Afternoon. Now they are being told Late Monday Afternoon. She asked me to call back then or try to be patient and wait for the call.
