I made reservations in January for Dec. 1st-7th at POFQ. I am that dorky, compulsive, plan-ahead person. We thought it would be nice to see Xmas at WDW, and that it would be nice and uncrowded. Also, this will be the last time for us to go at that time of year (we have 4-year-old twins in preschool, so next year they'll start kindergarten and we'll be slaves to the school calendar for 13 years). When I made my reserrvation, my DC membership card was going to expire at the end of the month, and I realize at that time that I could renew for the reat of the year (I thought I had missed the Dec. deadline, and was out of luck).
Fast-forward to yesterday: I got an email from the DC, linked to their website, and realized that my password still worked. I called them to see what was up, and was able to renew for the rest of the year. So then, I called CRO to see if I could apply a DC discount, and found out that POFQ will be closing for 2 years. They offered me upgrades to WL and Poly for $10 and $30 more a night. The problem with this is that I had booked at the rack rate of $133, in anticipaton of getting a code later in the year - so even though I love WL I didn't think that $143 a night in value season was that great; and even though Poly is a good deal, $163 is way more than I was originally planning to spend with a code rate for a Moderate resort. We just don't want to stay at CBR or CS. I was able to get POR with the DC discount for around $106 a night, so I took it. They had to completely cancel my old ressie, and give me a new one (CRO vs. DC). So I have to send in another deposit, and wait for my old one to be returned.
Now, I find out that POR may be half-closed when we go! I am hacked off! I feel so inconvenienced! I planned ahead for a reason, I was happy, and comfortable.
Now it's 4 months later, and I feel like everything is just up in the air. Do I wait to see if I get relocated again? Do I change the timing of our trip to take advantage of FT magic? Do I wait and see if there will be any good codes for after October?
Anyway, it just feels better to get all of that off my chest! I guess I'm a spazz (and a cheapskate), but I just hate the feeling that everything is up in the air when I originally planned my vacation 11 months in advance.
Maybe all the other nice Disney nuts will understand what I'm feeling!
Thanks for your time,
Gretchen (grateful for my wonderful life, but annoyed at WDW)
