POFQ and smoking

We have already put a note on our reservation that we *request* a non-smoking room. I know that buildings 2 and 4 and the top 2 floors of building 6 are smoking. How affected by smoking can the bottom floors of building 6 be? With an exterior corridor, I imagine that some of the folks returning to their rooms in the top two floors of building 6 might be smoking along the way. DH and I are both physically affected by being around smoke and it isn't pleasant so we would prefer to not be anywhere where smoking is likely.

Should we request a specific building? Can we do that the day we check in. Should we make the request earlier than that? When should we make the request? How do we make the request?

I think we might like building 1. Does anyone have any experience with building 1?

Thanks!

My mother stayed in building 2 (she is a smoker) and we were in building 3.
I think the top floor of building 2 was smoking, the first floor was not. You could walk around the bottom level w/o running into a lot of smoke.
We liked building 3 we were close to the main building and the pool. It was a good location.
