PODS Question

The pods come in different sizes and depending upon the size cost varies. Its not the cheapest option. If you are moving nearby hireling an enterprise moving van for longer maybe cheaper.

PODS charge you to bring the container, to move and then to pickup the container. On the positive side its very convenient to have it and packup when you want in increments. You can keep a POD for a month in the initial price.

We used PODS for our last move. We were staging our house and needed to get rid of clutter and thin down our furnature. It was very conveniant. They dropped of the pod and we had it in our driveway for a couple of weeks as we got the house ready.

You have to pay for each leg of the journay. Drop off, pick up to storage facility, drop off at new house (I don't think you have to pay for final pick up but I could be wrong). You also pay a monthly storage fee. It is more pricey than a straight move but for us it was worth it. We needed to store our stuff and the conveniance of having it as long as we wanted to load and unload was worth it. We still used a traditional mover for our final move (our big furnature including a piano).

I would definitely recommend them but I would caution to make sure you pack the pod very well. It does swing a bit and they lift it and put it on the truck. So make sure everything is tied down. We had no damage but we had mostly boxes and they were wedged in tight.

We didn't use them, but we priced out a POD about 2 years ago to move some stuff we still had in Michigan down to Florida. It was the smallest size and they quoted us $6000!
