As far as trying out for the musical goes, when I was in school we couldn't pick what part we wanted to be, we just got cast in the show where our instructors thought we would fit the best. Let us know how it goes and best of luck to your DD!!

I talked to another Mom last night and that is pretty much how it will work. I talked to her this morning and gave her an idea of what to expect. I think she will still audition. One of her friends wanted to audition for Belle...I'm glad she hadn't set her sights that high!

As long as I know when I don't mind - but usually they happen in the middle of the night :sad2:

Maybe when I am back to work we can chat more in the middle of the night here...

Morning all!

Busy day trying to get chores done today and have some family time tomorrow! We picked up Tiana's cookbook for kids and are dying to try the recipe for Beignets!

I confirmed with my boss yesterday that I will not be allowed to return to work without a Dr's note and he is on vacation until Tuesday. I may be off longer if I can't get in to see him right away. I am so happy I haven't abused my sick time and have enough to cover this.

Happy Friday!

TGIF folks! :wave2:

DD found out yesterday that her school play this year is Beauty and the Beast. She wants to audition for Mrs. Potts. The schools I went to didn't do plays so I am of no help to her. I am going to talk to another Mom tonight and ask advice but if anyone here knows anything that will help, I would appreciate it. She is so excited. I don't want to crush her spriit but this is open to all grades - JK - 8. She is in grade 3. I have no idea what the odds are of getting a part from the lower grades.

Sounds like fun!! Encourage her to go for it - things can happen :thumbsup2Wizard of Oz was the big production when we were in grade school - entered into an actual competition with other local schools to raise awareness for the arts or something like that. Auditions were held and Dorothy went to a 3rd or 4th grader...the grade 6 & 7's were so incensed but she did a great job and ended up winning Best Actress award for the whole competition! I didn't audition for it but was cast as Oz...damn my raspy voice :sad2: :rotfl: Let us know how it goes - I'm interested to see what costume you get to sew for her :dance3:

I think we've both come to accept there will always be something requiring money/time

Has he ever IMed you? Brave man if he has :lmao:

See I've still not come to that realization that something will always require our time/money :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

No, he knows how to survive :rotfl2: :rotfl2: but I forgot once and IM'd him  :rotfl: :rotfl:

We were going to see the Princess and the Frog next weekend (for Valentines day) but then we remembered we had an appointment at the hairdressers at the same time, so we're going to see it tomorrow instead :thumbsup2 It also means we'll be near an American diner that does really good food - so a quick trip to the Disney Store, brekkie at Buddy's and a movie :cool1:

Sounds like an awesome time!

No such luck here, our festivities will be Super Bowl commercials and all the snack food and pizza, wings feasting :lmao:

Make it a fab weekend all! :goodvibes

cheers,
:flower3:

I just saw on someone's countdown ticker that it is 10 months and 6 days until we sail.

Ahoy!

Does 10 months 6 days have any significance? As long as the time to go is getting shorter I don't care :lmao: Hope you are feeling better Todd

I can imagine wanting to be Belle and not getting it may put off a little one for life  I'm glad your daughter knows what may happen :goodvibes

Yeah, sounds good to me - although work at the mo is really busy (she says typing a long reply :lmao:) I'm hoping it lets up a little :surfweb:

Morning all!

Busy day trying to get chores done today and have some family time tomorrow! We picked up Tiana's cookbook for kids and are dying to try the recipe for Beignets!

I've never tried Beignets but they sound sooooooo goooooood popcorn:: popcorn:: Hope they turn out good.

So do you have a maximum limit of how many days you take? I think once you've worked a few years with a company it's a few months paid leave over here then it drops down to a lower rate of pay (I'm glad I've not had to take long term sick leave)

I've had a few odd roles - the doormouse in Alice in Wonderland (we just did the tea party scene) and a court person in Cinderalf (Cinderella but with a male lead) as well as a woodland creature in The Fantastic Mr Fox. I used to narrate a lot as well as I had a loud and clear voice

Ooooops on IMing your DH - but very funny :rotfl:

Don't tell DH about the Superbowl - he is a wing fiend, can't get enough :lmao:

I have to say I'm very pleased it's Friday today :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Sounds like an awesome time!! You are going to love the movie!!

As for me, I was a towns person had a solo singing line in Wells Fargo Wagon/ and dancer in Shipoopi for The Music Man (freshman year), I was Sister Margaretta in the Sound of Music (sophomore year), I was a maid in My Fair Lady..."quit Professor Higgins!" and also an extra during the horse races for ascot opening day, I loved singing that song! And last but not least a cleaning woman in Working by Studs Terkel...yes a cleaning woman. :rotfl: Thanks for letting me take a trip down memory lane. I 'd being in musicals, it was so much fun! I am glad I never really had a main role, because 1 I am not a good actor, and 2 I stunk at memorizing speaking lines. I had a hard enough time remembering the 7 or 8 lines I had in The Sound of Music.

This weekend we are just going to be relaxing and running errands. Kinda an oxymoron, but we are all getting over being sick so we aren't going to be doing anything fun and exciting. There is a book sale at the Library on Sunday where you can fill up a paper grocery bag for only $3.00 so I definitely will be going there! Aaron's library is getting HUGE!!

Hope everyone has a great Superbowl Weekend! Go Saints! I want a free bottle of hot sauce!

Good Mornign all!

We bank 1.5 sick days per month. I just checked and still have 149.5. I have been there 13 years. :goodvibes And if they are not allowing me to return until cleared by the dr. as long I have sick time, I don't think there will be an issue.

I love hearing about everyone's experiences with plays and musicals. Apparently auditions won't be until March so it will be a while before we have news on that one.

I will try to post pictures of the beignets later today!

Bex and Gav - it sounds like you have a fab time planned!

No Superbowol commercials for us - our cable provider screens American commercials and blocks them.

Off to supervise the beignets - I am hungry!

10 months and counting.

Nice photos, Paul. Thanks for sharing.

How did you get photos without people? Were you first on the island or last off?
