Good morning.
It is finally like summer here. Not raining every day. I am sad that some students and teachers have to go back to school so soon! But I am a little happy that the kids won't be hanging around the library all day!

Hmm...if they are actually reading and not loitering or causing a ruckus, I would disagree.
I was a geek that went to the library for books. I used the card catalog and actually checked them out to bring home and read!

Morning all. I am taking today off since I am working this weekend. We may have one fewer intern by the end of the weekend because there is a fair chance I am going to throttle her before Monday morning. Everything she says and does is like nails on a chalk board:scared1: Guess who my primary ER doctor is this weekend. I feel like George on Seinfeld "serenity now, serenity now..."

Yes, they do read and check out books. Manga is very popular. And vampires.

They also want to be on the computers for what seems like forever. I am not sure exactly what they are doing, we do not monitor their games and computer activity.

They can get a little close physically - play fighting or lovey-dovey.

They can be annoying in that they can be very demanding of our attention. That could say something about their home lives and we are glad they find refuge in the library.

I just want to tell them to go out side, be active, get some sunshine. Actually, sometimes I do tell them to go outside and run around the monument ten times. And they do!

In truth, they come to the library because the staff make them feel welcome. And that is exactly what we want.

I am thrilled when a teenagers comes back years later as a grown up just to say "Hi!". We do make a difference in their lives.

Good Morning All!, Mourning my Car today:( :sad1: Two days was not enough time to enjoy the new car.

I posted these out on the main Podcast board on the Thread I started on the Flooding that occurred here yesterday.

Here are pictures of my Car under water. I am waiting for the Insurance Adjuster to call and tell me what the next step will be. I did go and look at the car last night after the water receded, and based on the water line marks there may have been as much as 1 ft of water in the interior of the car. :sad1:

The flooding rain hit between 8 am and 9:30 am, dropping over 6" in that time period. These photos were taken at 1:30 pm, at this time the water had receded less than 1 ft. this picture is taken from the Overpass overlooking the flooded parking lots and area streets.

My car is the Green SUV in the pictures.

That does stink, but, the good news is that since the car is brand new, and if they total it, you would get back exactly what you paid - you wouldn't be out any money. At least that is how they would do it in NY.

The card catalog - now there's a blast from the past

My building committee want to transform our nice old oak card catalog into end tables.

We have patrons that want to have it in their own home. They are hoping to buy raffle tickets on it.

We haven't used it in over ten years. It is in the fireplace. Don't worry, the fireplace is not functional.

Happy Thursday folks! :wave2:

Tracey, :scared1: :faint: what a terrible thing to go thru - esp with a new car. I commisserate with you as all the extra calls and running around is such a hassle. Hope the resolution is quick and smooth for you

:welcome: new cruisers! Bookpodder, love the screenname & avatar :rotfl: :rotfl:

Finally got to an opthamologist yesterday :thumbsup2 Now I'm really looking fwd to new specs - I had an awesome wipeout at Typhoon Lagoon a couple of days before cruise v1.0 so since then I've been walking around looking like a lion tried to crawl up my glasses :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Glad that look is over soon :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

cheers,
:flower3:

Ooooooooooo - that just brought back a lot of wonderful library memories from when I was growing up....:goodvibes I remember being in the library club. Used to love to put away the returned books. I learned how to put the protective covers on the new books and how to open a book properly. At one point I think I was learning the Dewey Decimal System... Boy that was a long long time ago

That is funny!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Glad to see some people are creative.

It just shows how the benefits in place here are abused, the people who really need the help have to jump through hoops to get barely enough to live on but some bone idol 'person' can live a comfortable life  The Government gets walked all over and then taxes the rest of us to make up for it - rip off Britain :headache:

Just went out for a curry with DH's family. It was very nice however we went there as the offered 40% off if you get there by 7.30pm and they 'forgot' to put the discount on the bill  We got it put on after we asked but probably won't go back anytime soon.

Happy Friday Everyone.

Car saga continues Insurance Company saying <$2000 damage that they will repair - I Have many questions but no definitive answers to in regards to Title status of the car, insurability of the car with "Flood" Status and The Warranty on the car, that I hope to get today. Finally got a rental car last night.

Hello Everyone...Happy Friday. The rain has moved off shore...now the heat moves back in. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Good morning! :goodvibes

Sun is out. It is nice to have so many sunny instead of rainy days.

Hope we get sunny days in December 2010!

Hang in there Tracey- I know that it can take a long time to get an insurance settlement after a natural disaster- the adjusters are so busy that they just can't get to everyone fast enough! I am glad to hear that you have got your rental car and have questions ready for your agent- keep us posted :)

I have had a few days to start scoping out staying for a few days after the cruise. As much as I am a Disney-holic, I am seriously thinking about booking 4 days at Universal after the cruise. My kids will be out of school, the new Harry Potter Land should be open, and I can get tickets cheap if I buy them soon! Anyone else thinking about crossing-over to the "other-side" of Orlando's theme parks after the cruise?

-Kelly

TGIF folks! :wave2:

Tracey, hang in there...sending some pixiedust: for a quick and good resolution

Had friends over last nite for a good grilling - I get to clean up the mess today! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Oh well, at least it means good leftovers for dinner - I :lovestruc weekends with less cooking :upsidedow

Make it a great weekend all! :cheer2:

cheers,
:flower3:

I suggest you have them double check the electrical wiring system, especially the inside and outside lighting (brake lights too) and any wiring that runs under the SUV. Those kind of problems if caused by water, tend to crop up later, I'm not sure why.

I bought DS a used '98 pickup that had leaky window seals. I am convinced the water from that (or some other water damage) caused the problems with the lighting system. It wasn't a lot to fix but it wasn't cheap, either.
