Podcast Cruise 2.0 Discussion Thread 1 of ????

Hey everyone! Just wanted to say hi. We are hoping to do the next DIS cruise so I thought I would jump on here and get to know some of you crazy people! The only thing that's stood out to me is people collecting husbands and wives. Is the DIS podcast cruise really just a disguise for recruiting people into a religious cult?!? Just kidding. I must say that we've never been on a cruise and truthfully it's never sounded appealing to us...until we heard about one filled with DISers! I'm looking forward to getting to know more about everyone before the big event.

I had this long post all typed out last night...as soon as I hit submit, the DIS went down. I think I broke the DIS last night!

So i've been kinda MIA on the boards since we got back from the cruise...as you may have noticed. A few of you knew of our predicament and I wanted to take a minute to update everyone...

DH got a job!!!! We both lost our jobs back in March. We did the irresponsible, but MUCH needed thing and went on vacation. We sat down and figured that we would have lost more to cancel it than we would have to just go. So...in desperate need of a good time...we boarded the Wonder with you crazy people. We also were pretty confident that he would have a job offer by the time we got back to Orlando. He'd had a string of really good interviews right before we left. Well, that place didn't pan out. He was competing with someone from within the company and they chose to go that route. It sucked, but not much you can do about it...

So we came home and he hit the job boards again, applying for things that he was well qualified for as well as a few pie-in-the-sky kind of jobs. One of them (a pie-in-the-sky company) nibbled. He had a few phone interviews and then did his face to face on Thursday morning. They called Friday and offered him the job!!! He's now going to be working for one of those companies that you just never thought possible...he's VERY excited! Decent pay with awesome benefits...we're both really excited!

I still need to find a job though...unfortunately his starting salary isn't enough for me to stay home and not work... I've begun applying though. Just no one's called yet.

And to add to all of that frustration...DH has had some medical issues. It kind of came to a head right after we got home from the cruise. So i've been dragging him around to doctors for tests...and so far so good! He's got some family history of some things so it's not surprising, but I was REALLY worried that it was worse than what we thought. He's had a variety of tests...some not so pleasant...and i'm happy to report that my worst fears have not been realized...no tumors or anything like that...what he does have is going right along with his family history so it's not surprising, just inconvenient. I'm just glad that it's not what I feared most...

So...i'm hoping that all of this means that things are beginning to go our way again! For those of you who knew what was happening, thank you for the support...I really, really appreciate it. I have some of the best friends on the planet!

Oh yeah...and i'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Mornin' everyone. You know it is going to be a long day when you are struggling with the spelling of "morning". Candy, you should've called me - I'm sure all of the times you were awake, so was I. This is day 1 of my 6 day week and on day 7 it is father's day At least on mother's day, he got to go on a cruise. I usually try to find a silving lining in things but haven't been able to here. I just know that silver lining is around here somewhere...maybe it is shoved under my coffee pot - I'd start looking for it there...

G'morning fellow podcast cruisers. I know I don't normally chime in here, but I thought I would today.

Yesterday, I had a travel agent inspection and lunch on the Carnival Valor and after seeing how small the inside cabins are on that ship, it got me to think if I shouldn't upgrade to an outside cabin for the podcast cruise.

The price is about $300 more (I'm a single) and while that isn't a huge amount, I figure that having an inside cabin would motivate me to be outside meeting all of you instead of being in the cabin.

What do y'all think?
