PodCast 4.0 Chit Chat

We might have to bow out on this cruise. We had a baby in April and it might be a little too overwhelming to take him on it.

The final payment isn't due until September, so I'd see how the summer goes with your new baby (congratulations!) before making a final decision.

I'm with NancyIL You have a little time to adjust to having a new baby. Congrats, BTW.

Oh yes - a 8 month old is a MUCH different situation than just 2 months old. There is a quantum leap in ability to deal with children after the first 60-90 days in my experience. I too would wait late to make that decision unless other factors weigh in and you need that deposit money back sooner than later.

MDVL - 14 days sounds pretty amazing!! The only way we can get 14 day cruises in right now is to take one in July and one in December! :)

You'll have great stories to tell Nancy! :)

And Silverfox - how silly of me - I missed it before, but O-H !!! (I am originally from Columbus and would have been a third generation Buckeye had we not moved to Texas - as it is, I've been adopted in since my university had no athletics to speak of!). May I ask about your summer cruise? Where? What? Who? We are taking the Carnival Magic (ironically I have been on their Fantasy as well - so I'm doing my best to sail each of the Carnival and Disney ships with similar names - not sure I'll do either corporation's Dream though unless itineraries change).

I'm with everyone else. Give it a while - things will settle down. I think by then, you'll be ready to get on the cruise and take a break/vacation. How awesome - just put the baby in Flounder's and enjoy adult time at Palo :thumbsup2

Yes Scott, ...... I-O!!! My DH (Scott - ssanders79) & I grew up ~30 min west of Cleveland, OH & then went to Ohio State (where we met). We graduated from there (my '01, he '02) & lived there (in Dublin, OH) for a total of 10 years. We moved to Tampa when our DD was 5 weeks old and have never looked back since :goodvibes

We are hopping on the Disney Fantasy for a 7-night Eastern Caribbean. We are taking Bernard's Tour in St. Maarten and doing the Trunk Bay excursion thru DCL at St. John's. We're excited :cool2:

Some of the other lines have some awesome ships - I think the Celebrity cruise ships with the lawn decks are super cool. I saw descriptions of the new Carnival ships, as well & they have some nice features, as do the RCI ships. If DCL doesn't get with the program and add in some Southern Caribbean, we'll be "jumping ship" so to speak at some point! :rotfl:

Hey Gang....6 months out...way cool....even though I'm not going I still watch the threads.......

We've added a 3 day stay before PCC 4.0 and want to book the Candlelight Dinner Package. Anyone know when information is released for this. We're inside 180 days now. I asked DVC member services the other day and CM didn't know. TIA

Thanks for the tip regarding shuttle service to Swan / Dolphin. Since we will likely be arriving Friday night, we'll likely opt for a local airport hotel.

When we are flying in the night before a cruise, we typically opt for Crowne Plaza ... it's a nice facility ... not old ... not over the top ... not expensive (often around $89 - $99, breakfast NOT included) ... spacious, clean rooms ... free shuttle to and from the airport. What we like is that MANY pilots and flight attendants select Crowne Plaza ... kind of like seeing truckers at a diner. The only downside (if at all) ... the shuttle for Crowne Plaza is the furthest walk (last parking spot) for shuttle transportation at MCO.

Steven

thanks! We'll check it out

How funny - I lived in Dublin briefly (where my Dad grew up) before we moved to Tampa courtesy of the US Air Force, then ultimately to TX where we remain.

As for Kevin and his blue remark... :scared1:

The Southern Caribbean is pretty amazing. We visited Bonaire and Aruba last year with Princess...I must say Aruba is my favorite island in the Caribbean besides St. John - I am ready to go back!

Have to say, -Minnie wears a Wolverine Blue Cheerleaders outfit. Jan 1998 bought her at the parks.

But-- Lett's put aside the Buckeye Wolverine rivalry as we are all on Team Mickey

Paula - funny that flights are the one thing that makes it real huh? I've not paid off the cruise (although I did another focus group last night to put towards the bottom line - I've paid for our cruise solely with money earned via surveys and focus groups - and we are 75% there!), but because flights plans are finalized - it IS real! :)

And your tag fairy comment made me go look at my last post - it was post 666 - so I HAD to respond and move off that number!

There's got to be a story behind that one.

LOL yes there is :rotfl2:

We are paying off our cruise with proceeds by selling stuff online - like Ebay but for Kiwi's only. Its a lot of stuff but bit by bit each month it makes the final payment a lot easier.

Our flights were just under double what we paid for our last trip to the US back in April. Ouch! Serves us right for travelling in at a busier time of year. It better be a good cruise or I will be angry ;)
