Southwest is great. Bring a portable DVD player and/or laptop to watch movies.

Honestly, I wish we could fly too.

That stinks that it's too much for you to fly. It's tough with 4, so I can imagine what it is with 5! We all have ipod touches, ipods, ect so we'll just bring them along for movies and entertainment.

I was apprehensive about flying them the first time. But now, I like them.

I wish I could answer for you Andrea but have never flown Jetblue. Deb and I love Southwest. Never have had a problem other than one slight delay getting home once. We have gotten used to not having to deal with Boston and appreciate the nonstop flights. It's worth the xtra $ to extend your days.

Thanks George - it's not only that we're going to be going with a new airline, we would be going to a different airport! I do like the idea of not having to go to JFK on a Friday afternoon. The airport we would fly out of is a small domestic airport on LI, and not a huge international one like JFK is.

Another huge plus would be that we could actually drive to the airport and leave our car in the lot instead of having to take a town car or van to JFK.

Change is scary!!!

Just looked at the Southwest site - prices are good, flight times are exactly what I was looking for.

We've never flown SW, have flown Jetblue now for 10 years....

I am VERY confused - how is Southwest, honestly? We are really going to miss the televisions on Jetblue!

I flew with them last December for DAP, I had no problem with my flights to or from MCO. They did lose my suitcase coming home - I think they failed to unload some of the luggage in Indy as there were about 10 of us missing luggage from the flight. They then had shipped it to me FedEx on their dime since I flew into Indianapolis and drove the 2 hours home. I got my suitcase 48 hours later.

Good morning everyone! So, James is going to graduate from college very shortly before the cruise. I know, people do it every day, but he belongs to me, and I am very proud of him. He's been going to school full time while still working 70 hours a week. He is getting stressed out and is ready to be done.

So, I want to do something special for him, but I don't know what. Anyone have any suggestions? James is not the gift kind of guy. It doesn't do much for him (please do not confuse him with his wife who LOVES gifts). So, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do for him to show how proud I am of him?

I didn't meet my wife until a couple of years after I graduated college, but one awesome thing she did was to put my college diploma in a real nice frame. It meant a lot to me and I still hang it in my office to this day. Not sure if this is a given, but I thought I would throw it out there anyway. He would also probably appreciate some downtime with you given his hectic schedule during school. Also probably a given.

We flew SW for the DIS ABD trip and they were awesome. We just made sure to check in early online and we had zero problems finding a good seat. Being able to bring 2 suitcases each at no charge helped too as we had no stress about having enough room for souvenirs.

On a side note, I just wish the stupid Wright Amendment was gone now so that we could fly nonstop to more places out of Dallas. This is a rant specific to Dallas, so it doesn't affect most people.

I was glad it was on the trip home side too. I really think someone forgot to unload a section of Luggage in Indy due to the number of us missing our suitcase. It was 11 pm before I got the call that they had found my suitcase - so I think it went on to Phoenix or California the next two stops on the flight before it was re-routed back to Indy.

This is a very similar situation with us and Boston Andrea. We fly out of NH now and it beats having to pay the high cost of Boston parking or dealing with shuttles. I drop Deb off at the curb, park the car, and walk back to the terminal in about 5 minutes.

The only problem I have is we book very popular nonstops so you really cannot wait to book them. The price either goes up or they fill up. So you pay a little more up front but can sleep at night knowing you have the flight you wanted. I'll be in MCO Friday morning at 10:10am. As Pete would say. "How cool is that?"

In your case I'd say change is good.

Thanks for the suggestion of the framing. I guess I hadn't thought much about that. Great idea. And, the kids are going to be staying home from the cruise, so definite alone time.

Well, the old man also turns 40 this September, so I will have a party for him then. I was thinking more along the lines of doing something for him on the cruise, since he will graduate a week prior to the cruise. I sure wish he could stay for DATW. That would be a fun celebration.

I am trying to talk him into taking an 8:00 direct flight home on Saturday morning. He could be at work by 11:00 on Saturday morning.

Now, tell him!

Write it in a letter. Tell him just how you feel. Let him know how much you appreciate all his hard work at his job and how he did so well with his coursework. And at the same time was a great husband and a fantastic father. Let him read the letter. Read the letter to him. The letter is a tangible piece of evidence of how much you appreciate him that he can read "as time goes by".

Gotcha, how about a massage or something from the spa - or a nice dinner at Palo? They will probably send a cake to your table in the dining room during dinner if you tell them before hand. We had an anniversary cake sent to our table during dinner because a certain TA advised DCL we were celebrating our anniversary.

You're not asking too much of him from going straight from the plane to work, lol!!!

We love Southwest and fly them all the time to Orlando. They fly out of the East Terminal at St. Louis airport, which is much smaller and easier to get around. I didn't do the early check-in this time, since it's only Jeff and I, but I did this last time and it was nice to not have to worry about checking in at exactly the 24 hour mark.

Maybe you could surprise him with a little celebration at one of the bars on the ship one evening. We could all buy him a drink.... I guess there would be no way to get a special cake made on the ship like they do at the World, would there? Or, maybe you could get him a gift shipped to your stateroom. Just throwing out a few little ideas.

We're in the same boat (no pun intended ) as we have a 20 hour drive. Flying is so much easier, but with 5 of us, it is much cheaper to drive and we like having a car at our disposal if needed. I have to say that the ease of flying to DAP made me question this logic though.
