Husband who hate to have to leave his behind in the room. It's amazing how often he uses it.

I work with a knife everyday. I have several that I carry depending on what I am doing in the woods. When I go to Disney World I make sure I do not carry a pin knife. No need for it at WDW.

I have a small one (Victorinox SD Classic) on my keychain. I went through the detectors multiple times and put the keychain with the pocketknife on it in the plastic bin. Never heard a word about it from security.

I never bring my Swiss Army knife into parks, museums, or concerts anymore. I never know what the size requirements are, and it's kind of expensive to replace often. I leave it in the car or hotel room. It's terribly useful, and there's usually not a done on vacation that I don't use. However, most are just not allowed. Better leave it behind.

the SD has a blade that's less than 2" long and not even 1cm wide. It would be pretty hard to threaten or injure someone with it. A pencil would probably be better So, I suspect that's why it's allowed. However, my Explorer has a bigger and more blades, along with a corkscrew. It could hurt someone, so I suspect the larger ones are not allowed. It depends how big the pocket knife is.

I'll say DL was much more on top of it than Orlando. I saw security chase a guy in DL to check and make sure what was in his waste band was not a knive. It was a cellphone clip holder but they wanted to be sure.

My DH always carries one. Last trip when he was constantly randomly selected for metal detector, he took it out and they measured the blade every time and handed it back to him. I'm not sure what the max length is, but his was fine. It's just a basic standard pocket knife.

DH has a very small one that he happened to have in his camera bag - when Security found it in one of the pockets they measured it and since it was shorter than his badge DH was allowed to take it in. After that day he took it out of his bag and stored it in the car. He didn't need it and really didn't want to bring it / get checked each time. IMO much easier just to leave that sort of thing at home/ in the car or whatever.

I constantly carry one and had one confiscated years ago going through the turnstiles. It was clipped in my front pocket and I thought nothing of it and security asked to see it, I got it back at the end of the day. DD was beyond embarrassed at the time, so much so she asks every time we leave the room if I left my knife? Well she didn't ask when we went to NYC and I had a complete do over at the Empire State Building... lol.

My DH has one attached to his keys and they've never stopped him. It is a standard pocket knife, Swiss army type. We don't really think about it, it's just there and on the days we take our car he has his keys. We don't really need it, for our trip in August he can take it off.

Of all the things I've needed/used on a Disney trip, a pocket knife has never came up. To me it wouldn't be worth the added hassle, so I would just leave it in the room.

With heightened security in recent days, I wouldn't bother with it. DH carries a gun every day, he managed to go a week without it at Disney.

Ditto. DH has a Fl concealed carry permit and takes his gun everywhere except where prohibited like the base and does not take it into the parks.

This. What use could one really have for a pocket knife inside WDW? I don't get it.

It never hurts to have a mini-toolkit with you (which is what a Swiss "knife" really is).

Fix a loose screw on a stroller
Clean up a hangnail
Tweeser out a splinter (or in my case a bee stinger)
Fix the clasp on a lanyard (using the small pliers)
Open those gosh darn heat sealed plastic packages
Cleanly snip the tags off that delicate princess dress

The list is long and varied.
