POC @ DLand????

Is it true that POC at DisneyLand will be down from March - June 2006??? Please say it isn't so!!! I've almost got dh convinced on a trip out to DL late April 2006..got a great deal on airfare and park tickets but POC is one of his altime favorite rides!!!!! I think we will not be going when we wanted now.....BOO-HOO!!

And what about this list that the DL Monorail will be down from Jan - June?????? WHAT?!?!?!? How can you have one of your major people movers be down for 6 months?

Maybe WDW is the place to be after all.....

POC is Pirates of the Carribean. I have no idea if it is closed or not during that time.

The Monorail is not as big of a deal at Disneyland as it is at WDW. It really is more of a ride then a mode of transportation.

i read somewhere that they might incorporate jack sparrow and cap. barbosa from the movie into the ride, though imo its a horrible idea and the ride shouldnt be tampered with.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but according to www.riderefurbs.com (a site that keeps track of DL ride refurbishments), POTC will be closed during this time.

Well, it actaully was supposed to go down in September, but they decided to wait until after the holidays, so yes it will be going down. They *may* be adding in the back storage area a new scene that will change the ending, but only at night. Basically here's the premise: (You can find it somewhere on jimhillmedia.com, not sure where)

During the day POC as we know it now.

At night: A scarry, more wild version that starts off the same unti you get to the two ships battling. You notice on the pirate ship that when ever the moonlight shines on the pirates that they turn into skeletons, like in the movie. Then instead of going through the burning town you would go into the area they now use for storage, gow down a third flume drop and you would see the pirates throughout the town turning into skeletons, they would follow your boat and "attempt to board". I would assume they would use a second lift to bring your boat back up to normal level where the storage area currently exits so you would then continue with the rest of the ride as normal, but I am not sure. Also during the day the new scene would stilll be used for stoarge, then at night, the original version would be where they put the storage.

Well, that's the rumor anyway, and several people claim that all of the AudioAnimatronics have been made for this, who knows if that is true or if this will happen, but could be fun.

Wow, that sounds so cool. I can't wait until June to see what the changes are; I am waiting until I am sure of the reopening date before I plan my dates.

that web site has been pretty reliable, but as always is subject to change.....monorail, as someone else already stated is more a ride than transportaion in DL. It's still fun to ride, just not required to get around....

You may use the Indiana Jones ride to convince you DH to try out DL even though POC is down - WDW doesn't have this - and IMHO it's one of the best rides at the park - up there with Soarin' and POC & HM. It's a great ride, and everyone should have a chance to get on it! Also - DL still has MR Toad's Wild Ride - which is a classic, the Storybook Land Canal Boats (Walt Disney's personal favorite), and the cute little Casy Jr train ride. POC is great, and I do think DL's is a bit better than WDW (although the WDW queue is cool), but if you can convince him to try DL for the differences, he may take the bait!

Thats ashame about POC. I have been to the one at D world several times but I hear the one at Disneyland is better. now, I thought they would be the same, but I will simply go on both and decide for myself. does anyone have an opinion on this. is the D Land POC better ? thanks . does anyone know what Fun Grabbers are and are there alot of them at Disneyland in general. I am wondering if I need to bring my New York attitude with me.

Actually it does, it's just not at Magic Kingdom - It's at MGM Studios.....

There's an Indiana Jones show at MGM studios, not a ride like there is at DL. It's a completely different thing.

The dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom is the same "ride" as Indy (just different theming of course!)
