with the understanding that room requests are never guaranteed, if I book rooms requesting Alligator Bayou, am I guaranteed the Murphy bed? We will have 2 rooms with 4 people each but the extra bed would be very helpful to get the kids to sleep

Aligator Bayou is the only section that has Murphy beds. All the rooms in AB do. The only way to guarantee Murphy beds is to book a preferred location. They (preferred) are all in AB.

As you say a request is not guaranteed. It you don't want to pay for preferred You can request AB section, have it noted on your Res and have both rooms linked. In addition you can fax room assignors requesting rooms in AB section. They are pretty good about getting you your requests but a lot depends on how many families of 5 are booked. They would get first pref over 4.

We prefer the mansions and request them. I've never been put in AB. POR room assignors are the best!

Yes, as long as you don't need a wheelchair accessible room. However, you are not guaranteed to get an Alligator Bayou room. I once requested one and was told at check in that they were being held for larger families. You may want to think about packing an air mattress along, if you really want the additional bed.

Thanks, on my son's first WDW trip, we stayed at, then, Dixie Landings, AB building 18. Next year we are taking his whole family and I kind of like the idea of his sons' first memories being there too! AB 18 is a preferred so that would work!

Even when reserving a preferred, there's still s chance you may not get it. I booked preferred at Pop and no preferred rooms were available, but that was late in the evening. First time I had booked preferred that it wasn't available when I checked in.

That's a bunch of BS. I've stayed at POR twice, both times as a solo, and gotten AB both times. (Second time I requested it, first time I didn't.) Besides, that's too many rooms to hold aside just for groups of 5 (or 6 if one is under the age of 3) - it's almost half the resort! (Some of the AB rooms are Kings, so they wouldn't hold 5 anyway.)

BS or not, it was the explanation I was given. I had requested a room in the AB section, but didn't get it.

I have horrible luck with even general room requests. I've learned to not depend on getting any request met, no matter how general.

We are a family of 2-4 depending on who goes and we always request and always get AB. It's a lot of rooms to hold. And we are usually there during very busy weeks.

I am still ruminating on where to stay, definitely a Moderate but just not sure which yet. I love the boat to DS from POR. But CSR is a tad bigger and cheaper & I like the new kids splash area.

We are planning for the week after Labor Day next year.

We stayed at POR last September and requested AB for our two rooms because my sister has a boy and girl who didn't want to share a bed. We put the request in by calling and adding it to our reservation and by faxing it in too. We did receive connecting rooms in the bayou. I'd recommend putting in the requests and worst case when you check in if you don't get it, ask if it's available or maybe for the next day you can move.

Never understood that dilemma. When DD and DS got too old to sleep together, I slept with DD and DS got stuck with DH! We did this til the kids were quite old (like 16 and 20!) Nobody cared.

Not all rooms in AB have Murphy beds. This past March, my mom and I had a room in building 18 (1805 I think) (booked garden view, upgraded to preferred yay!), and though we didn't need it or request it, it was an accessible room with 2 queens and no Murphy bed.

I just assumed the accessible rooms didn't have the Murphy beds because there wouldn't be room for a wheelchair with the bed down.
