PO French Quarter River Rooms

Booking for Jan with mil rate and all they have available for our time frame is River View rooms.

Where are these? Backside (river side) of buildings 2 and 5? Other? Trying to see how far from main building!

I believe Bldgs 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, the sides facing the river. If you find the POFQ FAQ thread here, or check out Andre's portorleans.org site, the maps will give you an idea. Lots of POFQ fans say it's so compact, even the farthest bldgs aren't too far from anything.

We had a river-view room at PORFQ and it wasn't too far at all. I frequently ran down to the main building for a glass of wine, refill our mugs, ask about reservations etc, and it never took very long

Awesome! Will just be myself and DS next trip and want easy commute to bus, breakfast, etc

We stayed in room 5318, river view, in April. It was really close to the boat dock and pool. A bit of a walk to the main building, but the view was nice and relaxing and it was a really quiet room. It was our first stay in a moderate (WL is our very favorite, but needed to try to save a little $) and we were pleased.

Thanks. I'd like to be a little closer...WL is our fav, too, and this will be our first moderate stay!

I'd take a look at the resort map, and have your location request noted on your res. good luck!

Buildings 2 & 5 are the closest to the pool and the main building. We have had River View in Building 6 twice and it is not a long walk to the food court.Check the resort map to map out the short cuts

We just got back from POFQ. We had a river view in building 7. It was a little further from the food court than I would have preferred, but it really was not a bad walk. Plus it was a pleasant walk. The resort was attractive and the path was shady. I took food back to the room several times with no troubles. Overall, it was a good stay.

Haven't stayed there yet, but am planning to next year. I read somewhere that the resort is small and none of the buildings are more than a five minute or less stroll from the main building.

Yes, considering that POFQ is the most compact resort on-site, in any view and any building, you are about as close as you can be to the food court of any resort on property.
