This topic is the source of seemingly endless debate on the DIS. It boils down to this:
1) The official WDW policy is "One mug, one resort (excepting "sister" resorts), one visit."
2) Most, but not all, of the food court CMs will allow you to violate the policy.
The debate arises because of the contradictory information that comes from HQ and the CMs in the trenches.
We were ther in Feb. and used two of our old Dixie Landings mugs without a problem. We saw many other people doing it too.We even saw some Port Orleans mugs.So I say go ahead we felt funny the first time we went but once we saw how many other people were doing it it didn't feel like we were doing anything wrong.
the last time we were at wdw, the mugs for sale had a sign that stated the price and the fact that they were refillable for life. this was at ASMu but i don't see why they would have that for one set of resorts and not the others.

Hmmm..the sign in Music (and Sports..didn't check at Movies) both in August and Feb said Good for the length of your visit (of course they didn't specifically say "which" visit LOL). Where did you see your sign? They have a big one on the wall, just as you go into the food court and a smaller one, right under the display of mugs. Of course it doesn't make any difference, since nothing is said at the food courts, and the CM's tell you that they are good for life (Disney, if you write and ask, tell you for the length of your visit). We bring ours back and will continue to, as long as the food court manager allows it..however, we did look for the signs and did see that they actually said length of stay. I tried to find the picture I took of the signs (someone else asked for it when we went in August), but my dig pics are not in order. If I find it, I'll post it..if I don't find it, I'll take another when we stop into Music in May.
Just to reinforce that I think you can use the old style mugs. Last summer when we were at POR, I bought a new mug (I just like to collect different ones). When I commented to the cashier the fact that it seemed less expensive than the old style and that I had the old style one at home, she said "Oh, you should have just brought the old one to use. It's good for life-you didn't have to buy a new one."
Yes, they always say that..and I do bring my old ones..but...it really isn't true. They just don't enforce it..and the CM's seem to encourage it. If you write Disney, or any of the resorts they will tell you correctly, that they are good only for your length of stay. The signs in the AllStars, in the food courts are very clear on this. Do they say anything if you reuse them? Nope..no one seems to care what you are refilling..thermos, park mug..doesn't seem to matter (except at the campground..and maybe other places whre they fill for you).
We are going to POR instead of ALLstars this trip, and new mugs are on the menu for us!
Anyone know about any "MUG RULES" at CBR? I just packed my 2 mugs from 1996....forgot them in 2000, but bringing with me in April.
I suppose this time with my split stay, I'll have to buy new ones at the Boardwalk, I'm sure that you are not allowed to use mugs from a different resort other than the one that you are staying at. Would be nice thou', wouldn't it!
We just got back from WDW. DH bought a refillable mug at WL. The sign there said it was good for "your stay" and when he paid for it, the CM said it was good for refills "during this stay only."
