Thanks Kate. My dd is 10.5, and she's so sensitive. She's in the fifth grade, and this is the time that the girls are starting to form cliques and be nasty to each other. She's a pretty loyal friend, some girls she's been friends with since the second grade. It's hard for her when they start breaking off and go a different direction that doesn't include her. It breaks my heart to see her so sad, but I know that it's all part of growing up and she'll get through it. Girls are just mean! I think that's why I always got along better with the guys instead of girls. My best friend is a guy, but I know that we could talk about anything and he won't pass it along to the next person, he won't tell me one thing and mean another, and he's always got my back. He's also not afraid to tell me if those jeans really ARE too tight. Guy friends are the best! (I'm not gonna tell my dd that though!)

teva, I was wondering why you were hoping that there were dancing bananas waiting for Snowy! Took me a minute to grasp what you were saying.

Steph, girls that age can be so nasty. High school was better for my daughter, but middle school was terrible. She had some girls stab her in the back and she was so hurt. They sent some of the meanest e-mails to her, which I kept for a long time to remind myself how bad it was (I maybe ever still have them). It was bad beyond belief. I know that there will be a couple who she will stay close with from high school, but there are others who I know she won't. Even though they are now in college, these girls are still stuck in high school mode. Amazing to me. I know what you mean about guys sometimes being better friends. She's closer to one of the guys because she feels that she at least get the straight scoop from him (this wasn't one that was ever a boyfriend). Girls can be so awful. So sorry for your daughter!

It's a yucky rainy day here and I had a hard time sleeping last night. Not good.

The good news is that my teens bus driver found his cell phone on Friday. The bad news is that he has gym today and doesn't have a lock (bought one that had to be set, but he couldn't figure out how to do it, so it has to be returned), so if he doesn't think to lock it in the office during gym it might get taken during gym class like they often do.

Good Morning Everyone!

Wonderful but busy weekend for us. Austin starts preschool again today, and in the midst of getting things unpacked from our van and ready for him for school today, I smashed my knee into the doorframe. Other than that, our weekend was good!

Briarmom - have a safe and wonderful trip. Our Pedi reccomends a dose of Benedryl to relax kiddos and put them to sleep on planes.

Steph - same thing happened to me when I ran for sceretary in Jr High. I was the only candidate. I was excited to be secretary. My supposed best friend threw a huge write in campaign to try to make sure I wasn't elected. Sadly that still hurts me once in a while. Girls can be really mean!! My mom took me shopping for some new outfits to help ease my pain. It did help somewhat at the time. She also was very supportive and loving and I still remember that with a warm fuzzy today.

So very true! When I had problems with kids in high school (we moved to a teeny, hick high school in a little farm town when I was going into high school--need I say more?), instead of offering support, my mom was always saying, "what did you do to them?". She had no clue that the only thing that I'd done was to move to their town--a couple of them went as far as to threaten my life, but I couldn't tell my mother because she wouldn't have supported me. NEVER will I handle things in that way with my kids. I'll level with them, but I'll always listen to them and let them know they can talk to me.

Good luck to Austin today! I hope your knee is ok. Sounds like that hurt.

I've managed to drink more coffee, read the newspaper, make out a list of what I need to do today, and set the timer for a DIS break. I'm moving right along today.

Good morning y'all (in my still half-asleep morning voice). I am exhausted. I was up until 2 am scrapbooking because I couldn't sleep, and then went to bed and finally fell asleep sometime around 8. Then I was up at 7am to get the kids lunches ready for school. I need some coffee!

Tig & Tricia - thanks for the advice on the girl issues my dd is having. She seems much better this morning. It's so hard to watch your kids hurt emotionally - especially when you can't do much about it. It sucks, but I guess it's all part of growing up. I wish I understood why her friend is being so rotten though. I just took my dd and this "friend" to the American Girl Place in L.A last week. It was a big deal to them, and we made an entire day out of it. The friend didn't have enough money to buy a certain doll accessory so Hayley gave her $10 of her own money so they could each have the same thing. And then she acts like a turd to her. Girls stink!

Steph, the best advice I can give you is to just be there for her. As quick as kids that age get mad they get glad, but your right, it stinks to watch
