Sorry redshoes. :grouphug: Hope things start looking up soon.

redshoes, don't you hate it when you forget to knock on wood? Sorry about your mom's dog. The little furry creatures really become a part of the family and it's so hard to lose them. :(

I'm always so glad to get back from vacation and find that our animals are safe and sound, even this time with my DD watching over them.

I hope your boys are over their illness soon and can sleep better tonight.

I need to eat something, but nothing sounds good. There are blackberries in the fridge, so maybe a bowl of those with milk and sugar will taste good.

My DH is bringing Jake to a minor league baseball game. Every Sunday the fans can play catch on the field before the game and the kids can run the bases after the game, so Jake wanted to go to the game. And tonight there are fireworks.

Hey all! We are hanging at home this rainy Sunday. We thought DH was going to have to go into work in which case the kids and I were driving with him and going to hit the Mall of America. Turns out he didn't, but he IS working from home so here we are. Can't go anywhere, can't play outside, etc. This sucks. Kids are watching TV and I, as you can see am DISing. I think the mall would have been quite a bit more entertaining. Not that I don't just love all of you!! :dance3:

Can I just say that DHs job sucks? We have gone through periods of unemployment and truly are thankful that he has a stable job and he is paid pretty well. HOWEVER, I always thought that if you were on salary and you worked 80 gajillion hours one week (or for 8 weeks straight, give or take)AND they paged you while you were at church on Sunday morning (5 times even though he had someone else who was supposed to be covering the calls AND had told them he was unavailable til noon.) that when it came time for things like dentist appts or whatnot that you would be able to leave for a few hours and not use vacation time. Apparently I am living in a dream world because that is so not the case. Grrr. I am frustrated.

DM3, sorry about your DH's job! That really sucks. :sad2: Yes, he should be able to take time off for a dentist appt since he's working all the extra hours. That's just plain wrong.

My DH's job is still stinky. He's still on reduced pay, even though it has been increased somewhat. He's bringing in some business for the company, which is a double-edged sword. First of all, if he brings in business, he won't get fired. You'd think that would be good, but right now he wants to get fired so he can get severence and actually have time to look for another job. As it stands now he doesn't have any time to look for another job. I don't totally agree with his thinking on that, but I do understand it. When they increased his pay %, they made it a longer time that he'd have to wait to get commision money. The company already owes him at least 20K in commision money and he's really tired of allowing them to get away with not paying him that money. Oh, that's another reason that it would be great if they fired him--they'd have to pay him that money. Not all at once, but over the course of however many months, assuming the company isn't bankrupt by then. So he wants out while the company is still around. The whole thing is very depressing.

I ate my blackberries and milk and they were very tasty.

I hope the kids and your Mon feek better Red! :guilty:
Mn3 and Tig, I know the feeling :sad2:

Dh's job sucks too. :grouphug: I know how you feel. It sure would be nice for his kids to see him. Oh well. When we move there they will see him a lot. I hope.

We just went to Barnyard. I didn't really like it.

Briar--what does your DH do?? This whole time I have been thinking he was in the military. No?

Good morning Everyone. :yay:

Tig, hope you are feeling better.

Luv, glad your hubby's home safe and sound. :woohoo:

Reds, sorry about the little doggie. :sad1:

How's everybody doing today?

I'm baaaaack! Hope everyone is doing well. I have some catch up reading to do!

Oy, what a trip. Boy does a year change things. We've been going to this same campground the same week for the last 6 years. The kids meet up with the kids who do the same so every year they get to see each other and spend the week together. Kinda neat actually. But this year...oh my goodness.

What is with the girls these days? I have never in my life seen such a slutty group of kids in my life! These girls (about 8 or so) were hanging all over the boys and I mean all over! It was to the point were we had to tell our boys (16 and 14) that they need to tell the girls to not touch them as we (and the other boys parents) were afraid that something inappropriate could be accused of them! Even the boys (the older ones in the group) were very uncomfortable with it all.

The girls parents were nowhere to be seen, ever. They hardly wore anything and they were so rude. The nights were chilly and one of the girls was complaining how cold she was. I told her to go put on some clothes and maybe she wouldn't be. LOL

My DH and I and the boys would go to the pavillion to play candy bar bingo (a blast by the way) and these girls would show up and be the biggest pain in the world. If we won, when we got back to the table they would just grab our candy. Not ask or anything. I would stumble out of bed at 8 in the am and they were at our site. Saying something didn't matter much either.
Oh, did I mention these girls were 11, 12 and 13?

It just totally boggled our mind. We weren't the only ones to notice it. We talked with the other parents of the boys and they were shocked by it all too and had spoken with their boys about it as well. Even the staff made comments. These girls would go out at 2 in the moring to the boys sites just to wake them up. Bad bad bad. Good thing they didn't come to ours! LOL

Anyway, we still did have some fun but I can asuure you next year if it starts again, it won't last long. I should have marched them right up to their parents but ya know, they probably wouldn't have cared.

So here we are, back home getting ready to leave again on Friday but this time for Disney.
Funny you should mention about DH's jobs because we got home and my DH had an email from his boss concerning this upcoming vacation. Seems that now, 5 days away, they are re-thinking in letting him go. :sad2: Doesn't matter that we are already paid and can't get our money back at this point. So I'm sure things will be interesting at the office today.
So, I may have an opening if anyone would like to go to Disney for a week. :moped: LOL

Chrisnsteph.....how about a weekly recap for me. LOL

Phors, ever see the episode of South Park about Paris Hilton and her sleazy behavior?? It was hysterical. I think it's the influence of young "ladies" like that. Girls are turning themselves into sexual objects because it's supposed to be cool and popular. It just makes them look sleazy. I have learned over the years that young ladies who "get around" usually are so starved for male attention at home (absent dads) that they'll act out in this manner. I so feel for them. They are looking for love and going about it in the wrong way. In your case though, I think it's the sex as recreation among kids trend you were witnessing. It's still sad.

So I'm working on a birthday cake for my sister. I'll post pics when it's done. It's Mickey and Minnie. To save myself a lot of time and aggravation and mess I called the bakery at the grocery to see about buying a few pounds of their frosting already made (many stores do that). They want $5.99 a pound!!! As a reference it takes about 2# for a 13x9x2 cake. I had to order 5#. $30 worth of frosting!!!!! And she won't even eat the dang cake anyway because she's gone anorexic! It's more for show anyway.

Ok you guys, I need BIG TIME PIXIE DUST!!! Although it's been promised to us since last November, we have yet to see the check Dh is getting from his grandmother's estate. I know these things take time but we were told about 3 weeks ago that checks were going out the end of the month (July) and they still aren't here. Aside from wanting to pay some bills with it, that's our Disney money. I haven't made a ressie for this very reason. I was just worried I'd pick a date and the money wouldn't show on time. Our trip is supposed to be the 9th thru 15th of Sept. It's not looking that way now. So toss me the biggest handful of pixie dust you got and make a wish on it that this money comes THIS WEEK!!!! Thanks!

Welcome back 4s :cheer2: I agree with Shug, those girls are probably starved for attention and where were the parents at 2 in the morning :sad2:
Shug, you got it!!! You so deserve this trip! :grouphug:

4's, I think a lot of the girls behavior is the expectations of the parents. I can guarantee you that our DD never would have acted that way, even when we weren't around. Not saying that she never did things that we might not have approved of, but we expected to know where she was, who she was with, and to carry herself as if she has some respect for her body. We told her that if she didn't appear to have respect for it, nobody else would. At least it got her through high school without getting into trouble, even though I'm betting that she had a bit of fun her first year of college. I would wager to bet that she had a milder first year of college than I had, however. :rotfl2:

Shug, I sure hope the check comes through! pixiedust:

Ugh, I have to go bring Ben for a follow-up contact appt. This is the fitting person that basically looks like a grown-up version of one of the girls that 4's was describing. She was barely dressed at the last appt with a spaghetti strap shirt that hardly covered her. I don't think that Ben was complaining. :rotfl:

Oh, and 4's, I hope the WDW trip works out for your husband!

I feel like I haven't been in ages! I'll have to read back next week--I'm going to be busy this week.

Shug, I hope you get the check today! You deserve it.

Morning all!
Last night I went out with a friend who was in town for a bit. It was mostly good times, but there was a reeeeally drunk guy who knocked me down in the parking lot (I was not drunk) and another reaaaaaallly drunk guy who wanted to get a bit too friendly. I'm married leave me alone did not work well on him. Oh, he is married too. Nice.

dm3-my dh is in the military. You are correct.

Is auntie Im back yet? I want to hear about her trip. :yay: :yay:

4s-welcome back!!

Shug- :wizard:
