Thanks everyone. Is this year over yet? It's been so crappy. My dad being sick, my grandmother (same one that's in the hospital now) having a mastectomy a few months ago, now she's in the hospital, DH in Iraq. Jeez...I know that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but isn't enough enough??? Sorry to be a downer. :sad2:

I didn't know your dog was gone.

I like this idea! :)

Caro, Alana sounds so much like Ben, which I've already told you before. I can talk to you on the phone sometime if you want...would be easier than typing everything.
Yep, 4 1/2 weeks Mickey has been gone. We put up signs, went to the pound and nothing. I look outside at the dog house and get sad. He was microchipped too.
Yes, I've been meaning to talk to you about it. We need to figure out a time to talk.

Why if she has old work that she hasn't done yet?
Oh, asked about that too. She 'forgot' to get that, even though she was right in that classroom. And she didn't need the progress report the teacher printed up for her, because she 'knows all the assignments she is missing.'

You'll get through this, Nutty. It might not feel like you will, but you will.

Caro, sorry about Mickey. :sad1:

OK...Connor potty story

So you know we're struggling with the potty training with the boy. He turned 3 in July and we're still struggling.

He's getting much better.

So when we went to Philly a couple of weeks ago we stopped for lunch at the travel plaza to break up the trip. During lunch, DS said he had to go. A good thing. He had waited to long and WENT. A bad thing. He had on a pull up instead of underwear. A good thing.

So anyway, I took him to the bathroom to go potty. I pulled down his pants and put him on the toilet. Just as he sat down, the toilet auto-flushed, really hard.

So Connor was    and then yelled at the top of his little boy lungs..."Get me OUTA here mommy!!!!!" and jumped off the toilet. He then began yelling over and over "I SCARED MOMMY, I JUST SOOO SCARED MOMMY, I GOTTA GET OUTA HERE MOMMY, GET ME OUTA HERE MOMMY, I JUST SO SCARED MOMMY!" I reasoned, I cajoled, I re-flushed, nothing worked. They had to hear him outside he was so loud. I had to get him on the toilet to pee, but he was terrified.

Finally, I got him to stand on my feet, which were luckily encased in crocs, and pee standing up. So that is the story of Connor and the monster potty.

poor baby.....he thought it was going to suck him down with it....

Poor Connor, it's a wonder he didn't pee his pants from fear.

Lara, a couple months ago Andrew had been doing really well going on the potty, then for whatever reason kind of reverted and started having a lot of accidents. His other grandmom, who watches him a couple times a week, got him to pee in a jar. Problem solved, he peed in the jar, never wet his pants again and eventually stopped using the jar and is now just peeing on the potty again.

I told a co-worker at work about this and she tried it with her little boy and she had him trained within a couple weeks.

Don't know if it would work with Connor or if you would even wan to try it but I thought I'd put it out there.

Yikes Lara! :-( I have heard of so many kids being scared by those auto flushing toilets. Poor guy. Have you heard of the post-it note over the sensor trick for the future?

I'm going to bed. I hope Jack's sitting at the front door tomorrow morning waiting for breakfast.

Good night

In that case my child would be grounded until they remembered their work. And until they've brought their grades up they'd have to show me their daily assignments. There life would be pretty miserable until they got it together. Then as soon as they did, I'd start loosening up the strings until they proved it to me. She has to figure out the organization. How about a file folder for the papers? That's what Ben used to use since he couldn't handle a regular binder for assignments.

Nutty, you can come here for support anytime! We're great listeners and we all have shoulders that you can cry on.

Great potty story, Lara! :lmao: Poor kid! I remember Alyssa being 3yo and being scared of those toilets.

Hmmm, how dignified was I when I rolled down the hill in Williamsburg? :lmao:

You fell UP the hill! ;) :rotfl:

Uhm, I did shots, multiple in fact, without hands, were we going for dignity?:lmao:

Going for something but it sure wasn't dignity! :rolleyes1

Good god I hope not :scared1: I was showing off my underwear to anyone who'd look :lmao: (you know I plan to do more serious drinking in 29 days don't you?)

Oh my stars! Please remember that this is a family place. I do not want to end up on the national news! :scared:

I know not to make promises.

That's why I called it the CPAP...

:rotfl: :rotfl: I thought you said CRAP!!!!

That's how I always read it, which is why I did a copy/paste from a site about sleep apnea. :)

I'm sorry. :sad1:

we have tried so many different ways of getting her organized, I don't know what to do. We talked to her at dinner tonight and it didn't go so well.

Might have to come up with some really tough love sweetie. Don't do her work, spend the rest of her life in HS. :rolleyes1

Hello and goodnight! Headed to bed, hopefully no early morning calls. :headache:

See you all tomorrow.
