Does anyone mind if I just cry? This is todays email from Alana's History, Advisory and Language Arts teacher. She just doesn't care and I don't know how to have her care. I've reached the end of my rope.
Good news and bad news.
The good news is that Alana came to Study Club on her own today and worked hard.
The bad news is that she once again was not only unprepared for class today, not having a simple assignment completed, but she took none of the notes she was asked to take today.
The other bad news is that she spent none of her time after school making up past work; she just worked on current work. I ran her off a progress report listing her missing work, but when I asked her to honestly tell me if she was going to use the
report or just throw it away, she said she would just throw it away.
She continues to not use her notebook, just throwing papers in her bag instead of placing them in the proper section of the notebook. She could not find her spelling assignment due Thursday - I had to give her a new one.
Again, she worked hard, but she really accomplished at Study Club what she should be doing at home. We should use Study Club to make up the past work.
Once basketball season starts at Jefferson where I coach, I will not be available as often after school for Alana. I could make myself available during mornings, though.
At some point, Alana must begin to take responsibility for Alana.
Go, Team Alana
