PMS in a Handbasket--Don't be afraid, just bring us food... Part 13

My dog has a hematoma on her ear. They put her on steroids and an antibiotic. If if doesn't clear up with the meds, then they'll drain it but she'll have to stay overnight, if that doesn't work then it's surgery. Poor baby. :sad2:

Teva, poor poochie. My dog, Goldie (13), had surgery today to have a hematoma removed from her neck. Turns out it wasn't a hematoma, but an encapsulated cyst. Anyway, when I picked her up she was happy and fine. I think the only thing keeping her calm is her pain meds. Good luck to your furry baby.

Hope both pooches are feeling better soon! pug: :dog2: :dogdance: :dog:

There's an idea! :thumbsup2 :)

Ash, I commented on your thread. ;)

teva, what is a hematoma? Talk to me like I'm 6yo.

And teva :sad2: :duck:

And what is the "I don't know and I don't care" comment all about? Then why comment at all?

Dog's ears are made up of cartiledge. She popped a blood vessel in between the two layers of cartiledge which then bled into her ear. Her ear (the flappy part) blew up like a balloon. I asked the vet if it's painful, he said yes. :sad1:

Funny..my son went with me to the vet because I can't control the dog. As soon as we get to the door she hunkers down and you literally have to haul her butt through the door. Then once she's in there, everytime someone opens the front door, she tries to get out. She's a big baby. Anyway, we were on the way home and my son was reading her prescriptions, which is for cephlax and prednisone, and he commented on how it was the same medicine he was on at one tme. I then told him this little story about this lady I know who had xanax precribed for her cat because she was having lots of company. Told him that once the company left, the lady finished off the poor cat's xanax. He laughed all the way home. :rotfl2:

Not so funny...why the hell aren't you calling the doctor!!

Ah, I hope Goldie's feeling okay soon. Poor baby. Teva (the dog) is almost 13 too. (I think)

I have an OT question - can antibiotics make you drowsy?

Well, I've been on antibiotics two times in the last two months and they havent made me drowsy but the crap that I was trying to get rid of (hence the reason for the antibiotics) sure did kick me in the rear.

Teva, your dog sounds a lot like mine. Goldie definitely doesn't like the vet. They said she moaned and didn't want to do anything, including walk outside. The minute I got there, she jumped around and was happy, as much as an old dog can do those things. Good luck with your dog. I'll be curious to see how it goes.

Ya'll have a good night! I'm off to relax with my DH.

Holy crap T&B- one peed his pants because he was mad that DH and I are trying to break him of the habit of sucking his fingers, the other peed his pants because he needs attention and the dog peed because it snowed and she hates to get her paws wet.
That combined with the fact that my Grandmom is in the hospital, DH is still sick, and I have no life made for a wonderful day in the neighborhood....
I'm so sorry!

I want to say it can, but I haven't had any experience with it doing so.

Goodnight Sharlon :wave2:

Thanks Froggy - I am hoping that is what is doing it to me - it's the only new thing - it's Cephalexin:confused3
